That term 'Emerald City' for Sydney is a disgrace!
David Williamson's play, 'Emerald City' play, in which the character Elaine Ross describes Sydney metaphorically as "the Emerald City of Oz." Sydney is where people go expecting their dreams to be fulfilled only to end up with superficial substitutes and broken dreams.

All emergencies have been named. But of course we had a late change in afl and vfl not updated. Given he was out of afl emergency you would think not playing vfl? Unless parf is a late change. I don’t think vfl have to name final teams or announce late outs.
All going to be watching in an hours time to see whether they hold back more than 1 and who.

I've now lived in Sydney for 3 years. There are parts I absolutely love.
But the characterisation in that play is spot on. Same with Melbourne by the way. He was pretty cutting about both and got the psyche of each bang on.
I don’t know but he is averaging about 25 disposals, 1.3 goals and 7 tackles for the last 6 weeks.
He is doing a bit of what Dempsey was last year in his second year.
He is probably more likely to slide in next year though.
If the season is alive (and it looks like it will stay alive for us all year) he’ll probably struggle to break in… once again similar to Dempsey last year.
A couple more 25+ touches and 2 or 3 goal games and we will be calling for him… rightly or wrongly.
Hopefully he continues to improve because he was one I thought was going to be just ok at best (depth fringe type)… but he is tracking really nicely.

There is a Sydney joke: people in Sydney are killed for real estate + people in Melbourne are killed for drugs. That was during the Moran years.
Sydney all about real estate + how to get a more desirable house with water frontage, according to Williamson.
So, it’s amusing that Williamson lives in a waterfront property in Balmain.
Whereas Melbourne is referred to as ‘Chardonnay Socialists’.
I grew up in Sydney + fled to the Bush in 2015 because developers + cashed up bogans were ruining Paddington.
In a queue at a coffee shop a young woman (25ish) was talking to me. I said: “You’re from Melbourne, aren’t you?”
She asked: “How do you know?”
Me: “Because no one in Sydney would ever talk to someone in a queue”
