But that information can't be used to prosecute so there was a time window for the tip off, unfortunately they didn't bank on the EFC acting against its own self interest and believing spin to be real. And now here we are.

It was backdated to November 2014. The players sat out 5 months until the tribunal said they were not guilty in March 2015. They backdated it until then.

That makes some sort of sense. I'm comfortable with the 12 months. It's a significant punishment, but it gives the Essendon fans some light at the end of the tunnel.
