Not exactly inspiring.

Trump’s pick for UN ambassador dodges question on Palestinian rights

Elise Stefanik, US President Donald Trump’s nominee to be the United States ambassador to the United Nations, refused to say whether she believes Palestinians have a right to self-determination.

However, she did say she agrees that Israel has a “biblical right” to the entire occupied West Bank.

They should talk to the PA who's working with Israel to maintain order.

The PAs been using Israel's equipment. They all know now for people on the West Bank, it's very unsafe and becoming deadly.

The PA is increasingly an Israeli sock puppet, but even so blaming the PA for Israeli oppression and terror tactics is a bit rich.

Nope.

7 outposts have been built deep inside Area B, and IDF have signed an order giving the Civil Admin the power to demolish Palestinian buildings in B. Demolition notices have been flowing.
Those are apparently recent and inhabited by only a few settlers and considered illegal by Israel. Mostly just tin sheds. The overwhelming majority of settlers are in C. Hopefully the new outposts in B are removed.

As for the IDF order, doesn't it pertain to properties built in the agreed-upon reserve which Palestinians aren't supposed to be building in either? Israel can only demolish buildings in A and B proper in exceptional circumstances. These are edge cases and not generally how things go between areas A, B and C.

Why anyone would want to live here is beyond me :eekv1:

Except I didn't do that and we were talking about the OHCHR concerns. You've gone wide simply to take a crack and it's totally unnecessary.

Because someone has to start the ball rolling.

These lands are all biblically promised, the claim must be staked, Palestinians must be displaced.

This is how most settlements begin - an outpost is built/stolen, it grows, they become settlements, then they become de facto Israel. I think you know all this.

What is the 'agreed-upon reserve'? A Bibi invention to prevent Palestinian development after reneging on the Interim Agreement already signed by Rabin. Areas which Palestinians would have building authority over - but not be allowed to build on.

5 of these illegal Israeli outposts are in the 'agreed upon reserve'. So we have Area B where Palestinians aren't allowed to build, but Israelis are. They can't even stick to their already one-sided agreements.

You can claim these are edge cases, but this has all developed in the last 12 months.

Why anyone would want to live here is beyond me :eekv1:

Those were actually the homes of Palestinians, trying to eke out an existence as permanent POWs on their own land, not allowed to build or improve them.

They've now been expelled and have been replaced by Israeli settlers.

Pretty harsh of you.

Let's move away from a critique of what the dwellings and surrounds look like.

It's irrelevant if the claim to ownership is legitimate.
Odd the things people pearl clutch over. I guess I should be casting doubt on credible sexual assault claims or making unfounded posts about Ashkenazi Jews stealing babies instead of pointing out the absurdity of Israeli settlers choosing to establish outposts and live in the middle of nowhere in what is essentially a buffer zone where at any time their buildings could be pulled down.

You could have said that simply, without the fluff and mocking sarcasm and probably flown under the radar.

If I thought their criticism was remotely legitimate and not just faux outrage, I would have. No point explaining yourself to trolls. It's essentially what they want you to do.

Get's called out for punching down on people.
Complains that they're the victim.
Nobody cares about your disingenuous pearl clutching. I am guilty of punching down on settlers in area B. Go make mocking sarcastic comments about a civilian being killed in northern Israel by a terrorist attack again.

Has that been deleted?

Are you talking about me? Or did I miss something?
Not really, mostly GP, Faible and Dapper who all jumped in on it as if my little comment was me making fun of Palestinian houses or something. Most of the comments got deleted and they were trying to make out I am going "haha poor people" or something. It was obvious nonsense so I responded sarcastically.

I am sure you're probably aware those shacks were mostly built by Israeli settlers and I was questioning why those Israelis would want to live out there. Seems insane. Palestinians don't permanently live there even before October 7th, from what I understand, they are herders, they graze their sheep their seasonally and live in those shacks temporarily and move on to the next grazing area. It's called transhumance farming. The herders have abandoned the areas since October 7th due to increasing settler violence in that part of the agreed upon reserve.

Hinging on Palestinian agreement.

Information obtained by Israel Hayom reveals that the UAE, which spearheaded the Abraham Accords in 2020, has agreed in principle to take responsibility for Gaza's management post-war. The emirates aim to rebuilt the region in a way that neutralizes any potential threat to Israel. Known for leading the Arab world in opposing jihad and the use of Islam for violence, the UAE is prepared to instill these values in Gaza.

Reuters has an article on this possibly from a week or two ago as well when I look

Israeli Hostages Held in UN camp: The three female Israeli hostages released last weekend following the ceasefire in Gaza revealed on January 21 that they were incarcerated in a refugee camp operated by UNRWA — the United Nations agency catering exclusively to the descendants of Palestinian refugees — for part of their time in Hamas captivity, according to Israel’s Channel 13 network. Details as to which of the eight camps run by UNRWA in Gaza were used have not been made available.

Israel's Ch 13 is reporting the three girls were held variously, in tunnels, apartments and UN compounds.

Your post contained photos of Palestinian homes that were stolen by Israeli settlers. I know where you sourced the images from.

You'll really come up with any old nonsense to excuse Israelis from criticism.

They don't look like Palestinian homes, they look like settler outpost shacks. Especially the second one.
