Which is why Gowers needs to address in next member updateThe article speaks about it, but didn’t provide any direct evidence or facts and figures. So many projects these days run over time and over budget. This doesn’t worry me that much.
And let’s not blow it out of proportion. The article speaks about “significant delays “ cost blowouts and half the board wanting to abandon the project + key personnel defecting to collingwood
Let’s not trivialise what’s been claimed
I'm not sure why you are so aggressively prosecuting Gowers on this.Which is why Gowers needs to address in next member update
The most important infrastructure project in clubs history where tens of millions of $ allocated and raised and been 10 years in the making can’t have an air of directionless ambiguity in the 11th hour as per media s latest reporting
I’ll await detailed update from the president and his board
I assume with Ash Browne and Brad working for SEN with Sam Edmund we might hear more tonight
Nothing like a few unsubstantiated sweeping generalisations is there. Being over 70 I know a lot of older and younger Hawthorn supporters most of whom remember and acknowledge the history of the club but none of whom refer to our heartland. We have all moved on from the Glenferrie Oval even though we have fond memories of attending training sessions there.I swear some people mainly the people over 50 have their head so far up their arse that they permanently live nostalgia. There is no heart land for clubs anymore in the AFL we're now over 20 years since clubs played at a traditional venue, we have people in their mid 30's that don't know any but the MCG and Docklands.
The only thing that matters is, if we can afford to build the facilities we want and how attractive the area is. We can already answer one of those two questions and it's a massive YES it's a popular area thats booming.
While we’re on the subject of schtickI'm not sure why you are so aggressively prosecuting Gowers on this.
He simply inherited this project. If the President responded to ever media article, then that is all they would do. Let the cobblers cobble.
I think you'll find that the former GM that just left for Collingwood has a rather healthy sense of her own ability and having not progressed internally at the HFC, is throwing mud on her way out...
Yes because that was clearly directed at people like you,Nothing like a few unsubstantiated sweeping generalisations is there. Perhaps some people “have their head up their arse” but everyone I know accepts that to succeed in anything you have to keep improving and not live in the past.
Accordingly I am happy for the club to move to Dingley and hope that that move is managed successfully and within our means financially. I travel from Bayside to the Mornington Peninsula regularly so it suits me more than Waverley.
Yes because that was clearly directed at people like you,
Ash Browne got a briefing from the club and is definitely still going ahead, will time stamp it for you guys once it’s available on demand
about 29:15 is the chat/update on dingley
HFC admit there are challenges, but Dingley is still going ahead. They are landlocked at Waverley and cannot build or add lights to the ground for AFLW. Need to get out of there. What did they say ?
I don’t twit
Any mention of the board being “split”?HFC admit there are challenges, but Dingley is still going ahead. They are landlocked at Waverley and cannot build or add lights to the ground for AFLW. Need to get out of there.
Recent objections from some locals about traffic numbers once Dingley is built, that they have no impact on, that seem to have been sorted.
Some things that needed to be worked through due to landfill history of the site and the “capping”.
Delay in construction is not unique(labor, materials etc)won’t be massive delays.
Went into this with their eyes wide open and they know it might cost a little bit more than first anticipated, but not too concerned about that.
Might not get in there until early 2025.

None. Ash was just repeating that update that someone from the HFC had given him as a response to the articles.Any mention of the board being “split”?
Apparently they will also have Sam Edmund on in the next few weeks so should hear more thenNone. Ash was just repeating that update that someone from the HFC had given him as a response to the articles.
Sweeping statements huh that just happened to follow Caroline Wilson's comments and included the word some, so apparently some equals a sweeping statement which includes everyone? That’s what happens when you make sweeping statements - was no need to label anyone
Has to go ahead and while it might need to be done in stages, I hope they don’t take any shortcuts or make changes to save money
As long as it doesn't have the look and feel of the soulless lifeless "Hangar" at Tullamarine I'll be happy.
Initially I was a bit concerned about the distance from the inner suburbs and how this will affect player attraction, however I think Essendon's move to the Tullamarine could be a good precedent for this. It hasn't negatively affected their player attraction/retention and is in a worse spot than Dingley.
It could also be an opportunity to really solidify our position in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I'm sure the club has some comprehensive data about where our members and supporters are located and our targeted growth areas.
I wish we'd gone with someone other than Pedal Thorpe as Architects as they are usually a bit shit, but I think they've done an ok job here.I assume it depends how much more they change the design the current one definitely looks way better then Tullamarine which just looks like a massive shed tbhView attachment 1756549View attachment 1756550

People need to stop thinking this is a Seaford move
Yep i love the decision, feeder for the whole of Bayside and the Peninsular and Cranbourne and Gippsland too. Been out and had a look, thinking 10, 20 and even 50 years down the track this is a life time move. The roads and public transport have been improving all the time, in the area, so easy to get down to Dingley. Separates us from all the cookie cutter city based clubs. Brilliant move and future planning.
