very much so. Newbold said as much earlier. We had enough cash reserves to purchase the land, but building 50million facility will need some help.will hawthorn have a similar thing like Essendon have, ( flight plan ) where people can donate to the club to help pay for the New stadium
Wow! I'm excited, Cryptor!Interesting to read about the indoor training facilities. Very exciting opportunity there in terms of what is possible. An indoor, fully-sized football oval that could simulate a whole range of match day/night experiences.
Things like wind machines to simulate different strength wind patterns, roof sprinklers to simulate rain (the water would of course be recycled), some sort of projection/display system that transforms otherwise blank walls into crowds of various sizes and supporter biases and speakers to simulate that 100k at the MCG roar.
Players could then train and practice their stoppages, goal kicking and "final 2 minutes" scenarios in an facility that simulates the most stressful, nerve wracking conditions and moments of games rather than doing it with just a few people walking their dogs around the oval.
Imagine the week before travelling over to WA our players could do some training in front of a 60k strong rabid, WA based crowd. Or a debuting player being able to get used to playing in front of a large crowd on the MCG so when he actually does play he isn't as over awed.
If feasible that would be world class and give our players a huge advantage in terms of their preparations.
I thought the members were the club. Why do you idiots care if it is near Hawthorn or in our supporter base? For the Club, not you guys/gals
How often in the last 10 years have you gone to Waverley?I thought the members were the club.
It will remain as the current grandstand is heritage listedWould be sold off presumably to council or a developer.
Ian Dicker, stay by the phone please.very much so. Newbold said as much earlier. We had enough cash reserves to purchase the land, but building 50million facility will need some help.
Club to develop the strategy in the next 12-18 months
The exterior would remain but they could turn the interior in to apartments or offices or storage? It will remain as the current grandstand is heritage listed
How long has the site been left to fallow for? They built sporting and recreation facilities in Chelsea on the old tip without any issues.
Pretty much will probably get turned in to a community centre like the old social club at Vic park. Also the idea of apartments are an interesting one I actually like itThe exterior would remain but they could turn the interior in to apartments or offices or storage?
Were you the guy who got kicked out of the nude bike ride?the professionalism and depth of expansion of my club really does give me a hard on. Despite moving away from my boyhood neighborhood.
Were you the guy who got kicked out of the nude bike ride?
I'm with you, man. But I must admit, I can understand if a few guys felt a little 'pumped'.Why would anyone ride a bike in the nude. Craziness.
The mental image of someone slapping their sack on the seat is foul. I also feel sorry for the people riding behind each other.
My understanding is that the site next door is an active tip but the one we are buying is not in use as a tip. Anyone confirm?I don't believe it's been fallow at all. As far as I know the tip is still in business.

It must be remembered that Hawthorn were up poo creek without a paddle and nearly merged with Melbourne. It's been a hell of a journey in turning it around.
Apparently both Channel 7 and 9 down at Waverley today asking businesses how a move to Dingley will affect them.
The Clayton tip. That's where they buried all the old 'Blue' trains that were full of asbestos...lovely.
I'd probably venture out to Dingley to check out the new facility when it opened and enjoy a meal and drink watching the telecast of an interstate game.
It would be great if they have an area for live music and not just fill it with pokies too.
