Hopefully back playing before the end of this season. Went to Melbourne to see a specialist and ended up getting the Sesamoid bone removed from his foot. Just building fitness back up now.

Where did you hear this?

Mr Google says:

"

Sesamoiditis surgery

If an MRI or bone scan confirms a stress fracture then you need a period of 6 weeks complete, non-weight bearing rest in a cast. Then scanned again.

Stress fractures are prone to not healing properly. If it fails to heal, then you may require surgery. Your surgeon may pin the bones together, or remove the Sesamoid bones.

However, this is a very last resort. Loss of a Sesamoid bone and the lever function it provides will also result in muscle imbalance which can result in further complications.
"

Geebus I hope it all goes well.

"The club is devastated by this diagnosis and will continue to support Elijah and his family throughout his battle with super cancer."

Great update on that podcast with Oscar.

Two weeks from return to play....WAFL obviously.

Hopefully gets a handfull of games at the end of the year to gel with Flynn Yeo, Reid, Ginbey and Kelly.

Saying he is super excited and is just loving getting back to training.

Can see a big off season for Hewett and fingers crossed a big 2025.

The idea of Hewett and Harley in the same CBD is great and all, but you'd hope the 3rd midfielder can play defence.

The 3rd midfielder will be there to laugh and point at the oppo mids trying to catch the double HHs

yeah very excited for elijah to get going - gotta remember hes only got 14 afl games under his belt many of which he was the sub, Elijah and the boys will need a good season together to 'build the synergy'

To think that this is what we have waiting to combine with Harley, Ginbey, Yeo and Kelly.. with the odd cameo from Ryan, Brockman etc.

Speed, skill, aggression, swagger all round... providing Hewett can get healthy and the others can remain healthy, we've got a lot to look forward to.

I forgot how much energy he has. Combine that with Reid and these guys will lift the whole team. We'll have a seriously good midfield in 2 years, with our current young guys plus an early selection this year or a trade (for a warner/bolton).

Forgot how good he was in the mid, only recall him bursting through stoppages up forward. And that was before Harley and his influence. Curiously in the interview Hewey said he'd like to be in Harley's body for a day to understand his burst power and strength, to know what it's like to have that physical advantage. But when you look at Hewey playing, he has similar attributes to Harley, core strength, burst speed, takes it on etc.
Hewett could be back for the Derby...or Suns the week after?

He reminds me of all the guys at work that take pre-workout before a shift. He was so keen to get contested possession at his first CBAs last year. After a long layoff I can't imagine that desire has gone down at all
Can't wait to see him in action

Hopefully Hewett will only spend 1 week in the WAFL and be available vs Saints or Dockers.
Doubt he'd return that early, or for an away game, could be wrong tho?
Was thinking one of the two home games after that. Coach suggested recently he should return the back end of the season. But he's chomping at the bit!
