There's a high probability he'll sign an extension that takes him out to free agency, when he'll be able to more fully control his destiny and max out his income. That may mean staying, or it may mean going.
That's what any smart footballer should do.
Yep, my thoughts exactly.Club success and the opportunity to play finals and compete for premierships would be his main goal in my view. The payday will take care of itself.
He strikes me as footy competitor who wants to win and win the big one.
If the Eagles don't become a powerhouse again and soon then yes chances are he will be looking at going to whichever Melbourne team is.
If the Eagles do get back to where they belong I can see him being a one club player pushing for multiple flags.
He started here while we were at the very bottom and if he is part of the group that get us back to the top it would have been an amazing ride and he would have made many lifetime friends.
Besides Perth is a much better city to live in
BT wondering how Liam Ryan is standing next to himself 4 times.
Well, while you're ROFLing around, you can keep rolling with the nonsense he's leaving at end of 3 years or an Eagle for life. Leaving at the end of 3 years is a possibility as is staying on through other available options. Being an Eagle for life is also a possibility, but given the length of time and all the things that can go wrong in that time, it's the least likely situation to occur. An either/or statement is a rigid outlook given all the permutations that can happen? Judd was around 6 years, it's not impossible Reid does similar. Given 2025 is another rebuilding, consolidating year, it's touted we could be around finals in 2026. That's 3 years, do you think he's going to leave then?Keep rolling with the he's chris judd nonsense when he hasn't even signed an extension to his initial 3 years.
He's either leaving at the end of 3 years or he's an Eagles for life. He's not beating around the bush and staying around for an extra year or 2 to repay favour.
ROFL
Unless I'm mistaken but he can sign to vic clubs that takes him to free agency. There's a high probability he'll sign an extension that takes him out to free agency, when he'll be able to more fully control his destiny and max out his income. That may mean staying, or it may mean going.

I mean I tend to agree he won't finish his career here, but that doesn't necessarily mean taking him was a mistake. Depends on what we've already achieved if he goes and what we could get in a trade.
You’re mistakenUnless I'm mistaken but he can sign to vic clubs that takes him to free agency.
In fact he can do that with a juicy short term contract and being in his home state.
That's a smart footballer.
Every day that goes past with him not signing a contract extension gives credence to my view.
Im not sure why people are this invested in him staying. If he goes the insane overpay we will get will still see us move onto to success I feel. If bloody Shai Bolton got 2 firsts, imagine what Harley is going to net. We would outdo what Richmond got for Rioli/Bolton/Baker/Graham with 1 player and then some
I cant see this type of thing happening. AFL are well and truly aware if Reid leaves and we dont get a huge overpay it will be a insanely bad look for the competition as a whole. Even if the AFL have to gift us priority picks because of it we are going to get a massive overpayHe will go to Geelong and all they will have is a late first.

I'm not actually fussed if he goes or stays tbh, I was just speculating on a possible outcome. Either way it seems to be a win for us. But no doubt I enjoy seeing him play in the Eagles colours and I would enjoy seeing him play with us for awhile longer, not to mention the positive effect he will have on the playing group as a whole. I'm hoping to see him play in tandem with Hewett as well.Im not sure why people are this invested in him staying. In that case he likely requests a trade to a club with the picks to satisfy WC.He will go to Geelong and all they will have is a late first.

The AFL wont give us a priority pick if we get 3 firsts off Essendon LOLIm almost at the point of id rather he leave, Warner come in and we get 2 first round picks on top of such deal and we have made out like bandits
If we can get a deal out of Essendon with 2 1sts + F1st for Reid with AFL giving us a priority pick to make up the difference given we are losing our star player and struggling then we should do the deal and move on. Give 2 1sts up for Warner and use the other 2 elsewhere
Nah they will shit the bed big time . We would probably get moreThe AFL wont give us a priority pick if we get 3 firsts off Essendon LOL
If we are turning Reid into Warner + a top 10 pick the AFL will see that as close enough and leave it at that
or he'll be an Eagle for life and play 200-250 games and finals and fingers crossed a flag

Good call. The club knows the best way to keep him is to be successful, as it's a bad idea to leave a contending team. Judd was the best example of this and I'm sure Woosha would be letting Harley know about it.Control what you can control buoyz.
Reid has been spoonfed everything since he came to WA. From fame to endorsements, interviews and merchandise. If the lifestyle/career over here isn't for him then there's really not much we or the club can do about it, they've done about everything else already.
Lets just enjoy watching a player of his calibre running out in our colours.
This 100 percent.Control what you can control buoyz.
