Welcome to fashion trends of the last few years. Makes you wish you kept those baggy as **** cargo pants, and the snap off trackies with the buttons down the sideYou know what I appreciate about Harley? It's not his play, or that he's a nice bloke..it's that his jorts and jeans fashion is straight out of the early to mid 2000's, and as someone who's in their mid 30's and was in deep in the throws of that fashion I have deep respect for it
I reckon Bolton tracks him from behind, just trails him and puts the afterburners on to grab him behind, more likely to be able to stick a tackle that way, just need someone with enough pace and patience to implement it.Hmmm, Looks like it's too late to put a lid on the Harley-mania, it's reached fever pitch after one break out game, pretty crazy.
Simmo been trying to keep a lid on it with the media, looks like the cat is out of the bag.
Certainly a big shift in media momentum with Harley.
On tonight's TV sports news the newsreader actually said "the Tigers are taking on Harley Reid's West Coast Eagles.."
Imagine that? Has there been anything like this before? (Cuzz-Judd?) Is it a good thing so early?
Shane Bolton says they've done their homework on Reid and how he operates and he'll probably spend a bit of time on him. (reckons he'll try to tackle him another way)
If Reid has another good game, that's great...if he has a poor game, gets tagged out (whatever) maybe that's not such a bad thing either?
Got mixed feelings about this sudden avalanche of publicity?

I don't. It was bad enough seeing them butcher 90s fashion and now they've rolled straight onto 2000s. Can't they get their own style? I get that fashion always does throwbacks, but usually they do a bit of something different in between. I find the fake nostalgia (for things they never lived) with kids to be quite strange. You know what I appreciate about Harley? No sleeping on the job for Reid despite new brand partner
Harley Reid? More like Harley working as the rising West Coast star took a break with a past legend helping him recover from a breakout performance on the weekend.thewest.com.au
Harley is not superman, he's not impossible to tackle. He will get tackled and crunched in different games. He's been tackled to the ground and crunched a few times already. Hard to beat a gang tackle. He's not the messiah, he's just a very naughty boy! He walks the walk and talks the talk (apparently, now that he's been interviewed.) He likes to swagger...and brag it seems. Nothing wrong with a ton of confidence, but might need to dial it down with what he says to media, or have some media training.
It's great that his first break out game has galvanised the team and is good for business and growing the fan base, but there's a long way to go with the Eagles, and Harley.
It's a long season ahead and it's early days...
(mind you, a win against the Tiggers would be something special!)
Nah what he says in the media is bang on. Dont try to iron that character from him, its what the fans want.Harley is not superman, he's not impossible to tackle. We've been crying out for a campaigner with real swagger. I don't think his comments are untoward at all. They're confident, but not disrespectful in any way whatsoever. Doesn't come across as arrogant IMO.Harley is not superman, he's not impossible to tackle. He will get tackled and crunched in different games. We all did it, you probably just didn’t realise at the timeI don't. It was bad enough seeing them butcher 90s fashion and now they've rolled straight onto 2000s. Can't they get their own style? I agree, and good to have a balanced reply - I'm not trying to put Harley down, maybe I could've worded it better. I think it's fantastic for the club, the motivation and belief and positive energy it brings. He is clearly a character and is/will be a gun player. I understand everyone's excitement (including mine) after the last two years of misery. No doubt there has been a shift in tone from the club including players after Harley’s game on the weekend.
Yeo and Barrass in particular have really given Harley big ups, I think Barrass has said Harley could be generational. That’s a big thing to say after 4 games.
I think we all knew that, and so did they, but saying it publicly, you can tell the lid is off internally.
There’s good and bad with that. For a club that has been in the doldrums for years now, you can understand why they’d be excited by what they’re seeing.
On the other I remember Longmuir saying this game has a way on bringing you back down to earth if you get ahead of yourself, or if you even think about getting ahead of yourself. It’s a great leveller this game of ours.
FWIW, I think Harley’s personality seems to be he wants to be that guy. HE IS HIM.
He wants to be the guy in the iconic jumper who puts the club on his back and drags it up the ladder. I think he understands that he’d go down a legend if that is the case, and I think he is walking towards it and leaning in because he wants that for himself.
Sure, but the lid definitely blew off the box post Swans game...sudden avalanche? its been happening before we even picked him in the draft!
Didn't say he was arrogant and he's just as confident with media as he is onfield, seems well balanced - it's just that more often than not the media has a way of turning on you and biting you on the arse. Anyway the rollercoaster ride has started and off we go...We've been crying out for a campaigner with real swagger. I don't think his comments are untoward at all. Nice to have a bloke actually be himself in the media instead of being meek and boring.
He's been under the spotlight for 2 years already at a national standpoint and he's been famous around his local area since he was around 12.Didn't say he was arrogant and he's just as confident with media as he is onfield, seems well balanced - it's just that more often than not the media has a way of turning on you and biting you on the arse. Sure, but not at AFL level with national media spotlight, but he definitely looks like he can handle it, which is not really my point. Anyway, there's a new buzz around the club and that's a great thing, and I'll look forward to watching him strut his stuff! He's been under the spotlight for 2 years already at a national standpoint and he's been famous around his local area since he was around 12.
Reckon he's up for it.

There's just something that worries me about so much hype this early -the best way to explain it is I hope some other players rise to the occasion and share the limelight with him eg - Ginbey, Hewett, Culley, Hall, Maric, Long etc, let alone whoever else we draft in the meantime...
Love this!!!Only problem is Harley runs straight AT you and says "ok tackle me" just before palming you off.
And if you grab from behind he stops and swings the hips to break it.
My neighbour is a Tigers supporter and he even said he was looking forward to watching Harley play this week. Even funnier is his 9 year old who has been brainwashed told his dad he wants to support a " backup team" the Eagles. His cousin in Perth wants to support the Eagles too but his mum said no way, so they both came up with supporting the Eagles as a backup team plan. Lol. We had a Eagles head band with dreadlocks, scarf and kids Eagles mini efooty presentation for him last weekend.
His dad said "So who will you support this weekend when the Tigers play rhe Eagles buddy?"
"Um........urrrrr.......I'll support them BOTH!" Was the answer. Dad wasnt happy. Lol.
