Really happy if this is true (although still awaiting AFL or AFC confirmation). Also kind of happy now, in retrospect, we didnt get Luko. Would be handy, but I dont think he is worth a first rounder (which GCS clearly want). The query for me now is what they do with pick 4. The messaging from Draper's "camp" not ideal, but perhaps once in the system that changes. Also hoping we retain our second rounder and dont spend on ANB...at least in this year's draft anyway.

Or spend it on him but get something good back so that it is not wasted on having to match for Tyler Welsh when we could do so much lower.

I can’t agree with that. Pedlar was playing full time midfield towards the end of the season in the 2’s but can obviously play as a forward as well. Not sure where ANB is going to play other than half forward, and most would admit that Pedlars ceiling is much higher than Alex.

Dowling and Taylor did both play some games towards the end of the year, but I doubt they would have if Rankine and Milera were fit and Rachelle wasn’t dropped, and would they if ANB was available?

Bringing in a 29yo (next season) seems a strange decision for a side that is trying to get games into young players.

Playing SANFL midfield is a touch different, I mean youve only gotta look at Strachan for that.

Absolutely agree his ceiling is higher than ANBs though, although to say the latter will only play half forward isnt quite right.

Injuries did provide the others with opportunities, but injuries happen. It shows these kids are upto it and weve developed some depth. Now we just need a proper coach to extract 100% out of that list.

I like ANB and I think he can play an important role for us now, is he worth 25 though? Absolutely not in my opinion.

You’re talking about a club that since 2017 has been a basket case, that has re-signed our worst ever coach one game into the season because it didn’t want noise only to see us finish 15th.

The club deserves zero benefit of the doubt.

I have trouble seeing how ANB improves us. Murphy shouldn’t be in our side obviously, but I would prefer to see Pedlar in his spot rather than ANB. Then Taylor, Dowling or Edwards should be getting games before him also. It’s just not a part of the ground that we need an experienced but vanilla player in.
