Why not make 18 available to him then? I imagine we are to assume they have chosen to make that an ‘Indigenous players number’ with only Betts & Stengle having it post Johncock and it’s not available to anyone else?

Probably reflects the downturn league-wide not only at the Crows in Indigenous players with only 2 on the Crows list and no one since Stengle departed occupying the number 18.

Obviously holding out for Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to have it in 2026.

23 I understand but making 18 an indigenous only number is Rocket Maynard erasure and I won't stand for it.

Didn't see much of him at GWS. But is this all we get from Cumming?
14 disposals a game, couple of nice things, solid, nothing special? Or is there more coming - hopefully?

He did start slowly but has been building, expecting him to hit 20 disposals same as when he played for GWS in an uninterrupted seasons.

Gee shows our desperation offering that record a long contract after we missed lukosius but at least we had a plan B and no point having unused cap space.

I don't see how we can compare Lukosius who cost massive draft capital, to Cumming who came for no draft capital whatsoever.

He was never going to be a Dangerfield type of FA. He's just a very solid, plug and play wing/HB option who is well ahead of the other options we already had. He's been good so far and cost us nothing more than a salary. We've come out well ahead by having recruited him.

We chased him for a long time (Port Power was the one who entered the discussion late), GWS received a band 2 compensation so we hardly sold the farm for him like Collingwood did with Perryman who ended up being band 1. He is clearly a best 18 player and output will be like 2021/22 if he stays fit.

Average production, but what he’s bringing in general is very valuable. Toughness on the outside, dangerous kicking, and an overhead presence
He doesn't make mistakes and is a superbly accurate inside 50 kick.
He would get more possessions at HB, if that's worry, which it isn't.

Well i doubt we were fitting in anb, lukosius, cummings and peatling so i assumed as we had to up our offers for the latter two that we used the salary cap space from missing out on lukosius. I don't think think the draft pick cost came much into it. But I get your point as he was a free hit for a club with a lot of salary space maybe a little more risk is acceptable, that is a woeful playing record tho!

We did but my recollection was we had to up our offer to get him over the line but i may be confusing him with peatling and that came after lukosius. Based on his playing record shameful they received any compensation at all!

If we didn't have him on the list we'd be playing Chayce Jones. And there would have been the risk of us playing both Jones and Sholl

He's not a top 5 player on the list but he's a huge upgrade over Jones and Sholl. Tougher in the contest, better in the air and a much better user

Looks very classy. Value for touches

Sure, would love him to be getting his hands on it a bit more as he's a beautiful kick but I don't think we utilise our wings very well around stoppages or any time really. Keeping structure, winning it inside and feeding it to the outside hasn't been a strength for a while.

Typically our wings have just been inside midfielders (Jones) who win their own footy, or have to roam far and wide to be chip pass options (Sholl)

There's an extra level we can go to if we connect inside/outside better and do away with the hack kick from congestion

Agree

Seems some posters have short term memory & forgotten that he had an injury interrupted sesson, which has slowed his start.

Also, getting used to a new team.

Has been reliable, including decent disposal, without setting the game on fire.

He's doing his role & will get better as his fitness picks up & gets used to playing for the Crows.

He is quality.

Part of the issue with his perception is that he is very unobtrusive. He moves, marks and kicks smoothly, without errors, and is not demonstrative. We tend mainly to notice errors, or extreme brilliance. If you rewatch his games with an emphasis on observing him, in particular, his smooth and totally consistent skills become much more apparent.
