Some of your thoughts are so out of whack with reality

You hear what you want to hear … take things way out of context, because it suits your narrative

Mick Ablett on SEN this morning calling Nicks an outstanding coach

If you think Davis is actually developing the game plan then you truly are deluded …. i know what was said by Silvers, you took it literally though

There is no coach or no organisation that would take the game plan style out of the head coaches hands …. the fact you believe the contrary says everything about your limited knowledge
Mick Ablett? Woohoo. Another one fooled by the shonky used car salesman.

So Silvers when he said Davis was in charge of gameplan, execution, development and assistant coaches misspoke, he got it wrong and you’re the one that’s right or maybe they agreed with your initial assessment and they saw a coach who went rogue bonkers and had to take responsibilities away from him as a better option than sacking him after they just re-signed him.

And tell me, 6 years in, why is it that Nicks needs help with you know, being a coach?

On another note Jeffcrowe - as our resident draft expert I have another question.

Why in the world don't clubs be more aggressive in bidding for opposition players. Looking at Ashcroft this year. Brisbane would have paid any price to get him. Why wouldn't Richmond bid pick 1? Its not like Brisbane had any other high draft picks available - so its either pony up or completely miss out on him.

The Essendon player I understand as there was genuine risk of them selecting someone else if they used too early of a bid to secure their academy player.
It’s going to be interesting next year because with the change in points system and the fact the northern academies are likely to produce multiple 1st rounders per club there’s a fair chance if you can bid early enough on a player you like you might be able to get them if I’m he’s the 3rd or 4th ranked player in the academy

Last night re Ashcroft , I sort of had him around 4 on my talent order so he didn’t really slide much

The other factors are all the little illegal side deals and wink winks ie do me favour I do you favour - this prob main thing that prevents it

Then early in the draft there’s the fact you want to back in the eventual player you’re taking rather than show him he was 2nd choice

The thing that changed a bit last night later in draft were a few unmatched bids

I’m expecting more of that in the coming years outside of the top couple ranked for each club

I definitely wouldn’t be quoting Mick Ablett about anything including the draft

Tell me about it. In high school when having a kick around we'd all yell our favourite player's name when we did something (like the old Modraaaa, Yablett, yells). Mine was "Welshy!"
MOOODDDRAAAA was what you yelled when you wanted to just jump on someone from behind.

I was like 15.

He is one of those body types where he isnt a natural athlete and puts on weight and muscle easily, like fogarty. Theres too options. Either chuck him in the weights room to bulk up and turn him into a Hawkins style forward like we wanted Fogarty to be, but Fog looks better at CHF. Or we put him on a running program that allows him to play a linking tall HFF role. From what I have heard, havent seen him play, looks more like a natural deep forward. So maybe the Hawkins style bulk up could be a good option. But I would be surprised if he works is way into AFL in 2025.
No way. Have you not seen the wheels on this kid? You want him to be able to use his pace

There's so much wank talk around the draft though.

'Slipping' is just something pundants say to justify their shit predictions.

Don't forget "ceiling". A completely arbitrary measurement on how good a good player will end up being in order to justify another player being better right now that is based purely on vibe and nothing else.

Although it wasn't a massive slide, it was very significant with regards to points though correct?

The wink wink stuff makes most sense.

Appreciate it mate!

Nah, that was Shifter. ;) He does that every year.
Do we think any of the Draft telecasts had great panelists ….. Fox was really average

I would prefer a panel of a couple of ex Coaches …… Simpson was fantastic in his recent interview

Get past all the cliches

I remember the distinct moment when the oldest Crows player was younger than me and I thought, "oh no, this is it".

Shaun Burgoyne's extended career artificially kept me younger than the oldest AFL player for longer than I really should have

It's absurd to see 2006 birthdates in the AFL now

And Ned McHenry is a better footballer than 99% of people.

Context is the key here. He is very obviously overweight and therefore fat by AFL standards. He would be in the bottom 1% compared to all of his peers at AFL level when it comes to fitness.

I agree, but there is a fair way between that and people saying he is "fat and lazy". He's absolutely not fat by any definition of the term, and I doubt he's lazy, either. I'm sure he's worked bloody hard on his body to this stage - but he will need to work even harder, and probably a whole lot smarter. Being at an elite football club will help that.

It's not "being PC" to point out when something is completely inaccurate. If people want to say that his conditioning is not yet at AFL standard, I think that's fair. If they want to say he's "fat" then they're just talking garbage.

Be good if they had a bad cop in there to balance our shifter

Shifter is the godfather of the draft so has to be like that , a good mentor to coaches and the kids

I feel like Mick Ablett is a waste of space , some of the stuff he says is because he probably hasn’t watched all year

They need another guy that talks about the weaknesses of each prospect to balance shifted out so we don’t get unrealistic expectations of the kids
