Would love Darcy to get a taste of senior football this year. Even if it’s one game Vs GWS.

Geez, understandable then if we don’t want to put the pressure of AFL on his body if he’s still growing. The young pup who won’t stop growing: The rise of Bulldogs big man Sam Darcy
Third-generation Bulldog Sam Darcy has been in impressive form in the VFL after an injury setback, playing in a variety of positions across the ground.www.theage.com.au
Now 209.5cm!
Sounds strange to say but if he plays like a Mason Cox in that final against Richmond and you add Norty and JUH……… jeebus. It's pretty remarkable that discussions these days are about finding taller defenders to play on the new generation of 200cm forwards and Darcy is 10cm taller than them.
Him playing on someone like Harris Andrews would be like a 190cm defender playing on Harry McKay.
I don't want to get too excited about a player who hasn't even played an AFL game yet but if he can build up his strength without losing mobility his extra reach will make him so difficult to stop overhead.
Young talls often dominate at under 18s because of their height and then cant translate into AFL because most sides have a key defender their size. Darcy is overwhelming even for the tallest ruckman in the game. I think of him as Mason Cox (who isnt that bad a player considering his background) but with the Aussie rules bloodlines has the ability to cleanly mark everything, kick smoothly on both feet and get to ground level. Something we havent seen in the AFL other than English and Gawn who are true Rucks. It's pretty remarkable that discussions these days are about finding taller defenders to play on the new generation of 200cm forwards and Darcy is 10cm taller than them.

I don’t think they know to be fair wouldn’t be surprised if we’re still trying to run him through all positions to almost see what sticks. It would be absolutely fascinating to see where the club sees his long term position. I have absolutely no idea.
I actually feel like Bev has been pretty open with this: they want him forward, and are doing their best to get him as much time in that position as possible, but they want him playing AFL footy ASAP and will play him in whatever role will allow him the earliest and best exposure. Which, based on our usage of him in his first few games and now, seems to be seen as being down back.It would be absolutely fascinating to see where the club sees his long term position. I have absolutely no idea.
Is it crazy to suggest that he could be pushing 216cm once it is all said and done?
He’s got some younger brothers too doesnt he? They only get taller, 225cm winger coming soon?FYI
Sienna Darcy, daughter of WB player Luke Darcy and Rebecca, and sister of Sam (WB), was a member of a successful St Catherine's Rowing Crew at the Henley Regatta UK.
Key Defender in the Darcy Moore mould not quite as quick but difficult to stop from intercepting !It's pretty remarkable that discussions these days are about finding taller defenders to play on the new generation of 200cm forwards and Darcy is 10cm taller than them.
