Don’t think he will be a defender for most of his career
A couple didn’t stick early on , but great hands.
King Harold's defences fell to the Normans in 1066, thus arrived the D'Arcys. Sam's of our club royalty, his nickname should be the Princeling, don't tell Peter Fitzsimons. Your shout at the Exchange, KH

I think Tim and Sam are the tallest teammates since Cox and Witts played one game together in 2016 and Sandilands and Lobb a few in 2019.

Fremantle actually rolled out Sandilands, Darcy and Lobb together that year. Tim, Sam and Lobb would be collectively taller.
Sandilands and Warnock the other pairing which are slightly taller. I believe English and Darcy (assuming 209.5cm is correct) are the fourth tallest pairing to have played together - at least unofficially at this point, until Darcy's height is updated from 205cm at the end of the season.

Don’t fall for all that Bayeux Tapestry bs , we were smuggled to Aus in a submarine by the Chinese with just a flesh wound.
Made it to Willi beach in time for the 1066 boxing day test.

Rocket asked about Sam on Danny/Boyd podcast having coached him at Scotch

Sam Darcy he will be a special player ... Sam has a really good attitude and forward craft I think he will be a forward... Hes quick for his height but might struggle at senior level on faster forwards. Hes got really good forward craft he can create space in a small 10m very quickly and has a good pair of hands.

T Boyd: Who would you compare him to in the AFL? Does he compare to anyone or is he unique?

He's quite unique because he doesnt have the power of a Naughton that launches at packs.
Boyd: He doesnt have the speed of someone like a Joe Daniher?
He doesnt but I think hes going to be a better player than Joe Daniher because he goes to the drop of the ball and doesnt miss many and has a high footy I.Q.

He is a good kick.

Goes on to talk about the combination of Naughton, English, Darcy and Jamarra being very exciting as a forward ruck group.

I think in a few years he'll end up as a forward too, as a ruck/forward he'd get murdered until he puts on weight. Needs a few pre-seasons.
I'm expecting him to play mostly defence for the next couple of years.

Clearly if this group ever reaches it's potential together then it's a chance at being the most destructive ruck/forward group possible of all time. It's a big call but every one of those players are so unique and bring so many different things to the side.

The big question is how we maximise the talents of each of these players individually. All of Naughton, JUH & Darcy could end up being 60 goal a year players in 3-4 years as the number 1 forward but clearly that isn't a realistic outcome. How do you keep manage all of these players in different roles to ensure the team is best placed for success on game day?

They thankfully all play pretty differently.

There have been plenty of good combinations currently, and in the recent past. The Eagles were rolling out four All-Australians in Cox, Naitanui, Kennedy and Darling a decade ago, as just one example. Our boys have a long, long, loooooong way to go.

Another solid game down back. His marking and assured disposal (since his first two kicks) is a real asset down there.

He’s going to be a gun in whatever position he plays.
There is more of a need in the back line so interesting to see where they play him.

Agree he’s is going to be a very good player.

This kid is special. His composure at the top level in a tough position to play is unbelievable for a 19 year old 205+cm guy. Sky's the limit and can't wait to watch him develop.
He’s instantly gone to the top for biggest talents on our list IMO, including Bont, Naughty & Jamarra - he is seriously special.

The thought of having genuine (potential) top liners in the comp like Naughty/Jamarra forward, English/Bont middle & Darcy back is pretty bloody special, we have to make the most of this

Naughton looked pretty good out of the box, but other than perhaps Chris Grant its hard to recall a bulldogs tall who has looked so assured from his first game. His progress from an injury interrupted pre-season to playing senior football is just incredible.

Even if we got JUH and Darcy at somewhat of a discount and it has hampered other recruitment across the last few drafts. I think that we are on the edge of seeing that long term strategic investment in quality talls paying off.

Darcy doesn't turn 20 for 11 months. JUH has just turned 20. Aaron Naughton is 22. Old man Tim English has just turned 25.

We're ok.

Ridiculous talent. Could be a lock to be dominant on the defensive end for a decade if that is how he is used. Quick enough, agile, strong overhead and a neat kick. His kick on the 45 into the corridor after a mark had me wishing he was on our team.

We were looking to avoid him and English after the first quarter. He should have a strong end to the season and after another preseason while still years off his physical peak he will still be very very good.

What a ridiculous spine you have building - JUH - AN - English - Darcy. Insane!
Is it just me or do we get along with Froe posters more then any other clubs posters?

Probably sympathetic to each other in a small-club sort of way, taking away the geographic rivalry that exists between us and St Kilda/Norf. Freo supporters on BF tend to be quite reasonable in comparison to many of the campaigners you find.

Add to that we have a solid trade relationship.

I have never in my time, even with Bont, Naughton etc been soooo excited by this kid, jamara is going to be special but boy oh boy this kid gives me goose bumps. His skill and temperament and noise is astonishing even after only a hand full of games. We were so lucky with JUH, but to get access to Sam is incredible. I've heard his brother is showing the same rise in growth and ability already too.
