Welcome to the Bulldogs Sam Darcy

To call upon both Rowling and Kahneman in a single post …

1. Aunt Petunia thought “if there’s something wrong with the bitch, there’s something wrong with the pup”, however the point of the Harry Potter books wasn’t to agree with the Dursley’s social attitudes.

2. If the correlation between the “loser-scores” of spouses is less than perfect then it’s a mathematical inevitability that losers will partner with people who are on average less “loser-ish” than they are (and have less “loser-ish” kids). For $30k a year I’d expect to learn about regression to the mean.

Also just love that Godwin's Law has applied even to the "Welcome to the Bulldogs Sam Darcy" thread.
Maybe he’s an intellectual victim of our success with father-sons, with star footballer Luke Darcy producing star-prospect footballer Sam Darcy, and generalised the inverse about losers.

Remember kids, most AFL footballers didn’t have AFL footballer fathers and most don’t have AFL footballer children.

I know he has only played 4 games but I get future captain vibes from Darcy.

Every time I've seen him speak he has a pretty good head on his shoulders. Don't want to put the pressure on him too soon but I would be shocked if he's not in the leadership group by 2026.

Every time I see there's a new post in this thread I rush to open it to see how many more centimetres he has grown.

I'm very disappointed in today's posts.

I personally see him being a future Federal Cabinet Member, at a minimum, unfortunately for the Conservatives. A couple of reasons why:

1. He speaks well
2. He is good looking (apparently, I’m into women)
3. He is very tall*
4. He has name recognition through his family dynasty at the dogs and his fathers increasing media profile
5. He went to private school and is no doubt part of a ‘old boys network’, a form of cronyism that tends to dominate both the Government and Private sectors.

* I have always been interested in the correlation of tall people beyond their promoted being their abilities, simply because they are tall and imposing. A question for another day/thread perhaps?

Taller people have greater emotional regulation

Supposedly taller people all over the world have - on average - a shorter life expectancy than their shorter fellow citizens.

Second favourite for Rising Star going into the season.

Without looking, I assume Ashcroft is favourite?

I think everyone is expecting a Daicos-like first season, but Lions have a more stacked midfield so I wonder how much and where he’ll be playing
