Another curious factor about nominees to date is that no-one from last year's draft has been nominated yet.

If we had 3 nominations in a row, including the first nominee from last year's draft, that would be a real feather in our cap.

I think Rylie Wrong Way Sanders would need a near BOG performance this week for the AFL to give the one club 3 nominations in a row.

Bit of an oddity that we may end up with 3 early Rising Star nominees in the same year from 3 players taken across 3 separate drafts. It's a strange award.
Pretty sure JOD only misses eligibility by a single game too. Could have been a 4th from an in-season Category B signing.

If English were to go down injured, would Darcy be NIL to move into the number one ruck role, or would Lobb come in and do it?
Lobb 100%.
Lobb + Darcy is a very good 1-2 ruck/forward pairing

Why? He’s still 21 and eligibility is 21 or under on 1st January 2024.

He was born in 2002 and, as it’s 2024, only those born 2003-05 are eligible.

Thought this was an interesting comparison.

Luke Jackson (averages in his rising star year):
13 disposals
10.6 hit outs
2 tackles
0.6 goals
1.25 inside 50s
3 marks

Sam Darcy (first 5 games in 2024):
12.2 disposals
9.2 hit outs
3.6 tackles
1.6 goals
2 inside 50s
4.8 marks

His awareness of when to fly and when to stay down is miles ahead of some other forwards we have already. He is a natural.
Yes, but I think Darcy should be moved to defence provided Lobb keeps his spot and Jamarra returns. No more than 3 tall forwards at once.

Most of us remember the Eade days when we had no proper tall forwards. Now we're spoilt!
