love the pastng reece-jones just gave the bombers in his intro. something like "*Essendon absolutely should not be playing today. james hird, by his lack of remorse, has essentially said you dont have to train hard. you dont have to do the work. all youve got to do is stick a needle in your arm."

hine having a mare. in the play 3 times for 3 frees against. 2 resulting in goals

kennedy going well

Who was the half-bake *essendon flog suggesting a VFL premiership will overcome any disenchantment over the governance slip ups to ensure record membership?

I thought I'd go along to this rather than the dead rubber at the 'G; so for what's worth, a view from the ground.....

obviously the pattern of the game was determined by the wind; Bees were terrible going into it in the first quarter, and then tidied their disposal right up in the 2nd to take a good lead into half time. I thought the game was then won in the third quarter, when Bees kept their lead even into the wind - good coaching at this point, with Currie (BOG by a mile) a kick behind the play, continually taking contested marks as the Peptides tried to kick down the line. Also noticeable during this period was McDonald - repeatedly locking up the ball at the bottom of packs, chewing up time with real tough footy (and he's 18......)

Of the Bees, Martinello and Ross were very influential in the 2nd quarter when we kicked out to a lead (and good all day). McGenniss worked hard, but his disposal....... poor would be an understatement. Harper again worked hard to put the forward pressure on, but didn't get much of it - kicked a good goal with the wind. Hine was ok but gave away too many frees; Gysberts was good in the clinches, but needs to work on his outside game (which is not great - often looks as though he's going up and down on the one spot when the opposition are in transition). For mine, Kennedy was next best of the Roos behind Currie - good on his man, set play up from the back well and gave some zip and run at times. Ben Speight was busy, kicked two good crumbing goals.

So, on to the Casey Scorpions.....

Agree RE, pretty much with all of this.

Currie took some great marks, has very good hands.

McDonalds' disposal is a little dubious at times, but gee he showed why he is a 1st, 2nd round pick.

McGenniss is a goer but disposal lets him down big time.

Hine has a really good work rate, but makes some stupid decisions/options.

Kennedy played well, took a couple of good contested marks and also made some very important spoils.

I don't think Gys will be with us next year.

Speight showed why he was a listed player, very good in patches.

Wish Rossy was still with us.

McMahon showed glimpses, both good & bad. A leader down there.
