It really does make me laugh how when West Coast lose away, they're flat track bullies, but when they beat a good side on their home deck, they're back in the premiership contention.

I'm not knocking West Coast, I'm just pointing out how inconsistent commentary is.

I don't think West Coast are in premiership contention, but we did beat GWS away last week before beating Hawthorn this week.

The commentators are lazy and once they get an idea in their heads they run with it over and over and over.

We are 10-1 at home and 9 of those 10 are currently 8th and below. We are 5-5 away and 4 of the 5 we've beaten are currently 11th and below.

Only two teams have put up a decent effort against us at home this year. Adelaide beat us and Melbourne snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Had we played Geelong, Sydney, WB etc. at home earlier in the year we probably would've lost to them too.

Realistically we just haven't had a good season, but it's easier for the commentators to just parrot 'flat track bullies, can't win away'.

The only issue I had with the umpiring was the non paying of some deliberate desicions. Lewis soccers the ball horizontal across the back pocket, no call. Eagles player stuffs up a switch which was pretty obviously intended to hit an eagle, deliberate. Extremely inconsistent.
No, that is consistent with Hawthorn umpiring.

That comment by the media and others is just slack journalism after a headline. If you go through the whole competition most sides (with the exception of a few games) including those in the 8 have lost to teams when playing away. It's just a fact of life that most sides play better on their home turf with their home crowd behind them. Of course when it gets to the pointy end of the season the best sides have to be able to play anywhere and have to do so if they want to win a premiership seeing as it's played at the MCG (for non Victorian sides).

They called for a fine because that's been the trend this season - nothing to do with it being a "star"
I distinctly remember the same group of fox commentators predicting Lycett would get a week. They set the agenda for the MRP and they hand down punishment accordingly.

Listen to the difference between the commentators reactions between these two striking incidents:

1) Scott Lycett on Vickery - commentators labelling Lycett as "just dumb"

2) Jordan Lewis on lycett - BT justifying the hit as "just a little errr get out of the way".

The AFL boys club in its purist example
Got to protect those bandwagon clubs.

I'm not

Rioli ...how much contested ball does he win

He gets the ball because Hawks great inside mids work so hard
Answer is: statistically more then every other small forward in the comp.

If you think the two incidents are even remotely the same then you are far gone

12 hours on, a win and still you are one angry man.

No one is angry Off the Couch. If you think these incidents are completely different then it is you that's far gone. Both were punched in the jaw and the intent was exactly the same. One was lying down, the other was standing up and that certainly shouldn't make a difference to the MRP.
