Might just be rewarding good form in the WAFL...doubt he will play though

Strongly doubt it, otherwise Swift would be getting a game every week. Plus, no real benefit to being on the extended bench and then getting cut, the blokes would all know where they stand in the pecking order prior to Thursdays, especially your third ruckman would.

For mine Lycett has been picked to simply say to Freo, if you can pick 3 rucks, so can we.

Lycett in makes me a little concerned that a tall will pull out, but apart from that it's pretty much as expected.

Maybe Cox is under a injury cloud or a rest.

Stick him up forward and let Lynch do the rucking then, no way we bring in Lycett to ruck with Cox and NN in the team, and no way either get a rest on derby day.

Not awe inspiring. I hope Lycett doesn't have to play, or that Hams has to come in.
Priddis for McGinnity/ASel(if injured) PLEASE.

Hopefully Lycett is only in the 25 as reward for his 4 goals and improved form in the WAFL last week. Would be a serious blow if he actually replaced anyone, he's just not up to it ATM, like playing with 1 man short, I would prefer McInnes if there was to be a replacement but the MC don't appear to think he is ready yet. Fingers crossed.

Unless West Coast somehow knew who Freo would put on the extended bench, I can't imagine they'd pick Lycett purely to match the Griffin/Clarke/Sandi option.

Unless....

I knew this morning

FREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon says he'll consider taking three ruckmen into Sunday's western derby AFL clash with West Coast. Three-times All-Australian Aaron Sandilands and Jonathon Griffin are yet to play in the same side as each other since Griffin's switch to the Dockers at the end of 2010.

Sandilands has been the preferred ruckman over that time, with Griffin only getting into the side whenever the 211cm giant has been injured.

But with the Eagles boasting a powerful ruck combination of Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui, Lyon said he was likely to include Griffin alongside Sandilands this week.

Fellow ruckman Zac Clarke has performed well as Sandilands' understudy this season, and Lyon said the 22-year-old could play as a permanent forward should Griffin earn a recall.

Forward Michael Walters is unlikely to earn a first-team berth just yet despite solid form in the WAFL, while the Dockers remain hopeful defender Adam McPhee (calf) and Lachie Neale (leg) will be fit to play.

The ladder-leading Eagles (7-1) are set to welcome back key midfielder Matt Priddis from concussion, while goalsneak Ashton Hams is a strong chance to earn an automatic recall after serving his two-match suspension.
So there's a good chance the MC knew. :p

Jeez people are jumpy here...

Why does NicNat or Cox have to be in doubt? Maybe they're considering having 3 talls up forward like we usually do when JK isn't injured...

That's possible.

Lycett though has looked pretty ordinary at AFL level as both a forward and a ruckman. Picking an additional tall just because they are tall seems a reasonably pointless exercise ....
