I wouldn’t. She doesn’t have the work ethic imo. Very quick to throw the toys out of the pram when things don’t go her way from what I’ve seen. Maybe she’s changed after being delisted, not sure, but I think she’s one of those very talented people that has relied on talent and not so much hard work. I’d need to see her dominate the WAFLW on work ethic before I gave her another shot

She wasnt delisted, she stepped away for personal reasons, which is why I think they will relist her, depending on what those personal reasons are of course.

Stewart was taken by Port, as was Katelyn Pope (who you may remember playing a few games for us as an injury replacement player)

I was thrilled that both girls got a second chance.

Pope IMO was a tad unlucky to be cut by us, given some of the plodders we kept on our list at her expense.

Stewart to Port has been a hot topic of conversation at Claremont, they ( Port ) were known to be into her big time.

Freo got a player in Mulder. Has shown a bit at WAFLW level

Jae Flynn- super stoked for her. Really good kid, quick, agile. Hope she goes on with it.

The next draft's looking more interesting still.

Maddy Dodd's been looking really good in recent WAFLW and in the u18 vs All Stars last night -- she's a small but solid contested ball winner, definitely a draft pick I think.

Liliana Grassenis has been doing good things up forward, so that's another key position player -- 176cm, fast, can take a grab.

And Ella Slocombe seems to have added a yard of pace in the last year, she was super quick against the All Stars, so which makes her a sure pick too, I think.

Jamie Henry's still slow, but her work last night in the contests was so good, that as a big inside-mid her speed doesn't hurt much, she's a monster in stoppages.

And Srhoj seems to have gone to a new level, clearly the best in the draft for now (Cleaver's coming back from injury).

Raison would be a good key position pick, but she's indicated she wants to go interstate, so who knows.

My thoughts on the game last night:

Watching Jamie Henry live, she to me looked slow & too heavy. Especialy with the excellent speed the 18s were generating.

I don't think she'll go the distance at AFLW level. She'll be smoked at every stoppage. She'll get drafted, but I'd be lying if I thought she'll go on with it.

I'm wrong about Kaitlyn Srhoj, she is a class above in that 05 group.

Lil is out for another 6-8 weeks. Tore her ankle up at school. Shame, that kid was just hitting her straps too. Will still be drafted of course, her height and contested marking are big plus's. However her tank is BOG average, and is struggling to build a base with 2 already significant ankle injuries in 23.

See, that's my first thought too. But then, you get some seriously congested games, lots of repeat stoppages, where all her weaknesses become strengths... so who knows. I think you're probably right, but then Maddy Prespakis isn't fast either, she just wins contested ball and makes smart decisions.

Like Slocombe she seems to have added a yard of pace, which at her height is a dangerous combination. I'm hoping Entwistle, O'Hehir and Chambers will all turn into something similar. Plus when the kids are very young, they're freaking out every time they get the ball. Srhoj is past that now, she's comfortable with the ball, makes good decisions.

Speaking of, Zippy's a sniper. But then, Norbury's disposal's WAY down on what I remember. It's like she used to be this small kid like Zippy with amazing skills, then had a big growth spurt, and still hasn't figured out how to make these long legs do what they used to.

That sucks, but I think everyone knows who she is now, either here or over east.

Ever seen a kid as tall as Wolmarans who moves as well? Very rusty at the senior level, but if she ever gets it together, wow.

Mate - SCARY how good she will be. Shes a nutter as well from all reports, loves the contest. :D

Yep, noticed that. Has a permanent supply of agro pills. Bit of a worry with how skinny she is.

My other favorite Blizard was quiet. I think she's the same level athlete as Wolmarans, but looked off the pace here. Lots of strapping on that left knee, hope it's nothing serious.

And still no sign of the other monster, Alira Fotu. Hope she's okay.

What is the deal with the AFLW players and playing WAFLW?

I notice that Maddie Scanlon is playing for Claremont yet still on the Freo list.

Beth Shilling is playing for Subiaco yet on our list.

Krstel Petrevski in playing for Claremont.

I actually like the idea as some of our players really need to get more game time and with only 10 games in the AFLW season, playing during winter is a big bonus. Yes there are injury concerns but for some, playing more games is more important.

AFLW club discretion from what I understand.
Is their a maximum? I feel there is, a maximum number of games they can play in the year, but not a minimum, so clubs can give more games to players that need it, rest players that are a bit beat up or recovering. But unless I am wrong, they cannot play every game in the WAFLW and every game in the AFLW.

We thought it to be 4 games.

Schilling has played 5.....

So I got no clue. Maybe its 5? See if Schilling rolls up her sleeves again this week.

AFLW preseason officially kicks off in May. I'll have a chat with Freo's Megan Kauffman to try and get a better understanding.

Also not sure if you guys were aware, but Amy strained her calf somewhat. Not a big one, just a niggle

Two Zippy Fish moments for those who can't watch the whole game; 0:35:10 and 1:26:30. Kid's going to be a star.

I am more surprised Streamers replay is working.

EDIT: Nope, doesn't wanna load on my laptop. Phone browser works

DBL EDIT: Ahhh its me Platinum Membership - https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/account/upgrades ;). Sorted :D

Zippy - such a good player. Clean and quick

I don't think her speed is as bad as is being made out here. I know she worked on her running over the last couple of seasons and it really translated in her middle distance running.

Perhaps you’re right

She certainly knows how to find the ball and is clean in traffic. Strong.

But I worry about her acceleration and explosiveness at the the next level.

She has many good positives no doubt about it. Athletically - she’s still got work to do

Speed is a weapon, but only 1, there are others. If you have other weapons that you know how to use, speed is nice but not essential, otherwise everyone would just pick 100 m sprinters.

It's players that don't have speed and are vanilla at everything else, where the lack of speed is noticable.
