Article in the West from her netball retirement described her as one of the toughest and fittest players in Super Netball, so I don't mind this if she's here to show the younger players what it takes to be an elite athlete. If we get anything on field that's a bonus.

Gee there has been a lot of work been put into that body, at the very least another contributor of athletic professionalism in the weights room and driving standards on the track is always a good thing.

As a rookie i am fine with the roll of the dice.

Welcome to the Nest. :blueheart: 🦅 :yellowheart:

And that’s why they’ve taken her. For her professionalism.

Can’t wait to see a two handed ball drop at training

Wonder what skill set Verity brings.

At my WAFLW club we are training with a Fever player. Absolute athlete and very fit

Cannot kick.

I’m not sure I want to be seeing this at AFLW level
If she can't kick, she won't get a game. I don't have a problem, there's a lot of slack at the bottom end of our list still. It will take two or three more good drafts at least to clear out the dead wood. Until then, a veteran athlete at training, some extra publicity, fine. She won't be taking a spot from anyone good.

How much "professionalism" do we really need? Sheesh.

Got 100 different S&C people around, Hooker and Swanson who have been in the AFLW since day 1,club greats, male players and former coaches coming out the wazoo, other than that rig and lovely personality.... what does she actually add to the club?

Very bizzare.

My tip is she doesn't even crack an actual game. Listening to her talk about running with the football, getting used to being tackled yada yada yada just makes me think the whole thing is a random publicity stunt. "Hai gaiz, i've never played before and don't know a thing about footy nous but cheers for letting me jump into the highest level of womans football in australia, i'll be right haha". She'll get taught a lesson in the WAFLW by some amateur footy players and that will be that.

Roxy Roux now an Eagle.

Gave up McCarthy for her and The Violet Crumbles second round pick 27.

I think the Purps won that trade quite handsomely.

NOTE to the recruiters no more Irish Girls disloyalty a common trait.

Not mad about this. Second rnd draft pick and hopefully a good coach and Roxy finds her mojo again.

I don't think we'll be able to assess the winner of this trade for a few years to come tbh.... Time will tell

A Mac was one of the very few on our list that could win the contested ball.

Will be missed.
There's not much experience in there now, is there? And then we have Rowley out for the year too.

Chance to get some midfield minutes into our new AA defender?

Bushby's end to the season impressed me and I hope that trajectory continues.

I'm not a massive fan of this trade and hope Roux is able to find a way to improve.

Yeah that’s a big loss for West Coast in my opinion. Roxy has promised a lot for years but so far not delivered on her potential. I hope that we can find a way to get her to deliver, but I’m not holding my breath.
Yeah, I dont think we can play Roux and Franklin in the same line, and I would be worried about them in the same team to be honest. Franklin averaging 3.9 touches a game, and Roux 4.

Thats putting a heap of pressure on everyone else to make up the shortfall.

We lost a 16 possessions 5 tackle a game mid, and picked up a 5 possession 2 tackle a game forward/defender, when one of our issues is a forward line that isnt productive, and a midfield that struggles to get the ball in there enough in the first place.

Maybe we need to turn Franklin into a KPD.

She really looked like a fish out of water in the forward line this season.

Roux can at least take an overhead mark and straighten the forward line up.

I like the idea of pairing up McDonald and Franklin as the key talls down back. I see Franklin has the skills but seems to be in and out of the game when playing the CHF role. Like many good players that start as a KPF, she may well flourish as a defender.

Is there a list update for all the outs for each club? So far, I am believing I Simmons, Humphries and Sedunary have all retired as has Schmidt but Aimee has nominated for the WA draft which threw me.

Has there been a change to list sizes?

Do we have the same rules for LTI players as the men's competition? That would mean with Rowley that we have anther spot to fill.

As it stands, I have only logged 4 retirements, the trade of McCarthy for Roux and the rookie listing of Simmons.
