"It's the end of the 1990 footy season and SA's most successful amateur football club was given a chance to turn pro! The following year saw the merging of 2 long standing SANFL clubs Woodville and West Torrens to become the Woodville-West Torrens, leaving the SANFL with 9 clubs. They reached out to Adelaide Uni to fill the 10th spot and after careful deliberation and staring at the possibility to rebrand, Adelaide University Football Club joined the SANFL in 1991 on one condition. Silver was added to the jumper along with the piping shrike that has been their logo since their inception in 1906. They even tried to carry over their numerous 3-digit guernseys which was allowed for their first season"
