"Months prior to GWS entering the AFL, rumours swirled that the new team would be called the Giants and enter with a San Francisco Giants colour scheme. When the board caught wind of the similarities, they decided to stick with their original "Team GWS" colours but keep the Giants moniker. The original jumper with the white Vee and red stroke was slightly altered and went with upside down chevrons, a new innovation never before seen. The hexagonal G was logo was chosen for its distinctiveness and versatility. They added sky blue from their alternate Team GWS kit to further differentiate from the Western Bulldogs and make the link to NSW more prominent"
Entry 3 BigChippa52
"A few months before the Giants entered the AFL, they had an orange black, and white color scheme the san fran giants heard this and offered to sponsor the franchise worrying that it would be way too close to them. The AFL decided to go with the previous colors of red white and blue but the dogs complained, so light blue was used in place of white, due to the NSW links. Originally a youlk design with the g crest was going to be used, but Brisbane didn't want this and Fitzroy was furious. The AFL tinkered with the OG team GWS design and added the G crest, despite losing the color orange which has now been taken by the new NT side, the Giants have light blue which isn't used either. The Giants run out in this kit proudly, and it was displayed in the 2019 grand final after the Giants won their first premiership."
