Every year theres a player who should have retired last year but pushed through one more preseason to play this year

From a Crows POV, i have a horrible feeling Scott Thompson will fall into this category this season

Who's your pick?

JPOD? Or is that he should have retired 2 years ago?

I'm hoping that our younger KPD's can take some of the load this season, otherwise it'll look like it should have been Dale Morris for us.

He was giving away 10+cm and 10+ kg last season and for the first time, it really showed.... At his age, you just can't afford to do this anymore.

Other than that - after losing approximately 2.3M games of experience in the off-season - it could only be M Boyd....

Who is going to be the first retiree to make you go 'shit, that guy was still playing?' Josh Carr style?

Brent Staker. I thought he was done years ago until a couple of years ago he kicked the sealer against us for brisbane

Scott McMahon?

I don't blame any of the Hawk seniors for trying to go again but there's enough of them it would be a surprise if they all end their careers in the style they're hoping for.

Looking back on the Geelong era from 2007-11, I'd say the only ones that undoubtedly got it right were Ling and Ottens. Others, like Joel Corey and Darren Milburn (who was pretty stiff to miss out on the 2011 flag) weren't too bad, while Harley, Scarlett, Hunt, Rooke, Mooney and Wojcinski all looked past it by the finish. Most (if not all) of the latter group looked as good as ever in their penultimate season though - a couple were even AAs - so it's a very fine line for the player.
