Who are the only music legends still around today?

With the passing of Michael Jackson today and the deaths of Elivs and John Lennon who are the only true legends of Music still around! IMO they are;

John Mcarthney - Beatles Legend
Elton John - Great singer and songwriter plus entertainer
Madonna - The Queen of Pop
Bono - Lead singer of U2

Is there anyone elso that I have missed?

everyone has their own definitions of legends, but you can't disagree (even if you don't like his music) that MJ isn't in the biggest* 10 musical entertainers of all time (for mine he is top 5).

i'm not huge into his music (although i do like some of it) but he's influence and the way he introduced music videos to the world and his overall huge fan base has left a massive mark ont he world.

as someone said on the television today he would be one of the most well known people in the world.

*don't read biggest as best as that is totally opinion.

as for the original question - i agree with the first 3 from the OP (although i think Paul McCartney was slightly more of a legend than John McCartney ) and throw in Bob Dylan in place of Bono. As much as i dislike her music Mariah Carey has a huge fanbase and has sold millions of albums and could be classed as a legend just on this alone i guess.

As much as i'd love to say Jimmy Page (whom i consider the best guitarist ever), Led Zep's biggest strength was that they worked so well as a group and they all contributed.

Mick Jagger would certainly have to be considered.

Got to look beneath the surface for musicians who are legends to their own crowds.

All of them are in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame and were in 3 of the greatest bands ever.

As you said it's legends of the music industry.

Those in the industry know who they are.

Popularity in the general public doesnt dictate a music legend, otherwise Britney Spears would be elligible.
