I always read the question and think "how are they going to use this answer" and then act accordingly.

All the ones about the sponsors you remember/like/buy products from/would prefer over non-sponsors are probably going to be used to justify asking for more money to advertise the sponsor, or replacing the sponsor with one that fits the Essendon brand better (if there's a push behind the scenes from coteries to get rid of A-mart, for example).

The ones about the club's administration probably go straight into the external review, along with the likelihood of retaining membership in 2023 and reasons for being a member. That would provide interesting data trends from year to year, it probably corresponds with finishing position and W-L record, if they want to maximise membership they probably pander to the common complaints.

The one about if you like Marvel as a home ground – but no corresponding question about the MCG – is also interesting. What agenda is at play there, I wonder?

The ones about expectations for finishing position next year probably influence other stuff too -- either sacking a coach again, or going a bit harder with their marketing pitch.

The AFLW questions – are you an AFLW member, have/will you watch on TV, have/will you attend games in person. The most interesting thing about AFLW membership is that per the club constitution you can only be a member once, not once for each team.

Plus some of the questions about the BomberShop range and how much you've spent there this year. That has obvious applications imo.

The lack of question about whether the club should own poker machines is also interesting. I've never seen it yet, but once it's a thing they decide they want your opinion on, that'll be an interesting day.

I have a family member who did the survey as well and the questions differ slightly from one person to the next, even if all the obvious points of divergence are answered identically. Like it will give you a different five sponsors to rate for likeability of the brand. I think two other questions that had like 5 themes that you had to rate out of 10 were slightly different too, or in a different order.
It’s literally impossible for the club to get out of pokies unless they sell the windy hill operation which they won’t. If pokies close then that bar/ restaurant will no longer exist.

Why is wilson continually talking up Brad Scott? I don’t understand it, well I do but you know
Guessing she has sources at AFL House whispering stuff about being prepared to release Scott from his contract if necessary to save the day at Tulla. Don't see any other way we end up with her particular attitude to the whole thing... except I can't see a scenario where we don't appoint someone either as an outcome of the process, or the board parachuting in their own alternative. I doubt the latter would be Scott.

Could Wilson making it clear Scott is available deny Essendon the excuse that there was a lack of available experienced coaching options as a reason / contributing factor in a Hird appointment?

Or perhaps force the club to pursue Scott - invite.him.for interview?

Seems odd he's not part of the process already if he wants to explore the role...

I am starting to wonder why the AFL are keen on us to get Brad Scott.
Maybe he’s crap at the Head of Ops stuff and AFL are trying to “foist” him on to us?

Yze has worked extensively under Clarko and along with Troy Chaplin is largely the architect of Melbourne’s incredibly good team defence, which is still very good, they’ve just been killed by the fact they cannot retain the ball in the front half.

The concern with Yze is that he’s very similar in methodology, lineage and style to Rutten and we didn’t give that the time it needed the first time so I have no confidence we will for a second time.
Exactly right. Wtf are we doing?
