Amateur hour from us once again. If we haven't spoke to 10 coaches by now or there management to give some update on what is going to happen... then we are absolutely lost.

The fact that Ross sounded genuinely bemused last night was not a good look for us. It reeked of our hubris in thinking that we advertise and they will come because we are the almighty EFC.

We would have known the media will be asking ever potential coach and his dog questions any time they can yet we haven't come anywhere near to controlling the narrative.
Not sure what this is about controlling narratives… club has never been good at that since they sacked Sheedy, whose ability to get the whole joint talking about martians and marshmallows seemed to do well in deflecting from the players.

Also, I take it you haven’t seen Jordan Lewis’ appearance on 360 last night where he spoke about it? Or Mahoney’s interview with ABC radio last weekend?

They’ve been putting information out there. Whether the media choose to discuss it or go ahead with clickbait and shit takes is really beyond our control anyway, it’s a free press.

I’d also have thought calling ten coaches before the selection criteria are decided and the panel has met (which was yesterday!) would be the definition of amateurish. Professional organisations have sound processes and they follow them… which means not headhunting people before you’ve figured out what you actually need.

They're still sorting out the process. They've already said it's going to take around a month to go through that process with the applicants. At some stage they'll work out who the applicants are and they'll work through that process with them.

Why do they have to have talked to 10 people by now? Why should they rush the process? They've done the right thing in setting up a panel with a good mix of people so they've started out on the right foot, which is a breath of fresh air considering the way things have been going lately at the club.

And I think Ross is playing his cards close to his chest. If he wasn't interested he'd just shut everything down and say he doesn't want to coach.

He is certainly interested and I think he's been reasonably clear that he would consider it. But it generally looks like

- He's not busting to coach again... he has a full-time job and is okay with it

- If asked he'd want to get a lot of information (due diligence as he calls it) about the club, who is there, how stable and united it is, etc

- There's no one-size-fits-all "process" for all coaching candidates, he wouldn't be going through the same "process" as an untried coach

The last point is fair enough imo, the bloke has coached at the highest level for a decade including three GFs, everybody knows what he's about, it'd be a case of having the discussions with him, and talking to his former execs and players at St Kilda and Freo.

Yeah but does he put his pronouns in his email signature?

What's there to control? The panel will meet, define the process, the various candidates will be informed of the process.

Do you think it needs to be reported to the media who they meet with, at what stage the process is at?

Isn't she saying on behalf of Brad Scott and Lyon that the 'process' is too murky?

Does anyone think guys like this are going to have their reputations tarnished because they didn't write a good cover letter as part of an application process that is beneath their standing?

All these guys need to do is come in for discussions to present their ideas and the panel can gauge their intensity, ideas etc.

We can then weigh it up against all of the other stuff we put unknown quantities through to determine their suitability.

It's also interesting that Caro is so receptive to Lyon.

He got torpedoed at Carlton on PC grounds. Moral outage is one of Caro's specialities and yet even she has forgiven Ross enough to do some heavy lifting on his behalf.
Caro seems to take her cues from Lloyd where Essendon is concerned, unless she hears something different from her sources. And they are colleagues, she's hardly going to come out and say "you should not be going after Ross Lyon" when he's sitting right next to her...

She also doesn't have to say anything in support of him either and yet she pretty clearly is.

Lyon said the process hasn’t even been defined yet. How can an as yet undefined and unreleased process be murky? The panel met yesterday in order to set the process, which Lyon seemed to know about, which suggests he didn’t actually not know anything or have talked to anyone yet.

Caro only cares about womens rights when it impacts her, otherwise her views are pretty old school and she is as deep into the afl boys club as any other journo.

Her commentary re seb ross leaving the covid bubble last year to help his wife with their new born was so hypocritical.

Now that Richmond are out, does Dimma reload again or does he realize he has done more than enough and has nothing left to prove at Richmond.
Maybe he may want to come home ?

(Yeah, doubt it but one can wonder)

Yes Dimma, quit your stable well run club for a club that got rid of you to overpay others when they couldn’t manage their cap, then didn’t believe your assessment of their list or give you a chance to present for your dream job after a technical failure.

Come home Dimma, come home to the family that has repeatedly mistreated you and your friends.

Id like any of:

Lyon, Hardwick or Adem Yze
Please please please not Hird....!!!

if he aint busting to coach us, then not interested.

Whoever we get needs to be 100% all in.

Normally that's how it would be, but the way the club has handled itself in the last couple of weeks its understandable it could be the other way around.

When you put it like that I'm not sure how he can refuse
