Not being privy to anything I'd be happy with Yze or Lyon.

I fall here as well.
Pyke I like the idea of as coach as stylistically it could be fun and maybe we get some of that swans Intel.

I think Yze is going to make a pretty good coach somewhere. My only query on him is could he navigate the obvious games that are played at our club politically and would he be given time.

David Noble - 11 years
Brendon Bolton - 8 years
Alan Richardson - 11 years
David Teague - 12 years

Experience is not everything. I remember people advocating for Alan Richardson.

What makes Yze a better candidate than anyone else? Obviously GWS didn't think he was their best option.
Sometimes you need to take a punt and hope that you get it right.

Hawthorn had a sliding doors moment, very similar to ours right now, where Wallace was available and wanting to go there, but they went down the path of Clarkson and the rest is history.

We are in that boat. Yze is a coach in waiting. If it’s not us, it’s going to be the next club. So let’s just go for it and pray that we get it right, if the panel believes he is the man for the job.

This is what a process looks like. Boring.
It's true, I wanted a process but not enough is happening when I hit refresh.

Let's hire Hird now and sign De Goey and sit back with the popcorn.

**** it, let's bring back the dream team and get Bomber, Dank and The Weapon too.

It's more just surprising that no info has leaked yet
Yep. Jordan Lewis on 360 last week is the closest we’ve got to news for a while.

It’d be nice to have some idea of who is putting their hand up, but I guess we’ll find out more when there is a short list being interviewed.

Atm applications haven’t been open for a full week.

We might not hear much until it's down to a couple of candidates, we didn't hear much about the GWS list until it was down to Kingsley, Yze and McVeigh although they wouldn't have been the only three to interview.

I really think they should be a lot more specific in their criteria not just had to be experienced. Maybe also has to have coached at least two teams to a GF, preferably from two separate states and one has to be in the west. First name has to start with one of the last ten letters of the alphabet. No piss farting around

Anyone else desperate for some news on who our coach is? Feel like we went through a shitstorm of new info everyday for a few weeks and now nothing! I'm dying
Wil be at least another two weeks.

There is no surefire solution.
It's not as simple as coach a vs coach b.

You need the right people all in place at the right time, and I feel now more than ever a strong organisation to support them.

Anyone think teague or rutten couldnt coach a geelong or sydney to finals wins, or that chris scott or longmire would get us to a GF?

Honestly not fussed who coaches. Do the process, hire the best candidate, but also, sort the rest of the shit out too

Before we hear anything or they pick the coach?

If the latter, two weeks is a quick short-listing and interview process provided there is more than 1 interview....
Before we get an idea of the short list. In the case of Yze he is still coaching in finals so second and third presentations will be time sensitive.

That is why they do the interview process. Who says GWS picked the right coach ? How does anyone know they have the right coach. There where supporters calling for Clarkson to be sacked in his second year.

You never know if you have the right coach from day 1. But hopefully this interview process and coach selection gets everyone pulling in the same direction.

Coach aside, you need everyone from the President to the water boys and girls on the same page to win flags.

You can't have half the board wanting to keep a coach and half sacking. Half the players whinging about the coach or other players. The list manager recruiting the wrong type of players we need or coach wants.

Lyon turns down Dons, will not take part in coach selection process

Ross Lyon has declined to be part of the process to be the next coach of Essendon.

Club sources have confirmed to The Age that Bombers football boss Josh Mahoney approached Lyon recently, but the former St Kilda and Fremantle coach told the Dons he was content working in real estate and the football media.

Lyon – who coached 163 games between 2007 and 2019, including 20 finals and appears on Nine’s Footy Classified and Triple M – was seen as a key contender for the Essendon job, following the departure of Ben Rutten.

Reports emerged last week that senior Essendon players had told senior people at the club that they wanted Lyon to be their next coach because they believed he would bring strength and stability.

Former Bomber Brendon Goddard, who played under Lyon at St Kilda, was among those pushing for Lyon to be considered, based on his defensive focus and ability to build a winning culture.

“It’s open and honest and brutal at times, but creating winning cultures is hard,” Goddard said.
Premiership coach Robert Walls and legendary Hawk Jordan Lewis are leading a six-person coaching selection panel for the Bombers. The group met last week via video call and is looking to narrow down a shortlist of five before conducting interviews.
Essendon want to announce their next coach by the grand final, which will be played on September 24.

Hhahah Ross...bullet dodged in my opinion, massive ego didn't want to go through a process.
