Every coach in the league would select Maynard over Saad. Higher football IQ, better team player, more reliable user etc. has the runs on the board too re: winning premierships
Winning premierships has nothing to do with it, you tell me every coach in the league would knock back Harley Read because he hasn't won a premiership.

You've got to remember, this is the same deluded demographic whose supporter graded Silvagni and Pittonet on the same level as Sidebottom, Mitchell and McStay.

We really have to start cutting them some slack...

Every coach in the league would select Maynard over Saad. (Probably. Maynard's younger)

Higher football IQ (Highly debatable and speculative)

, better team player, (Again highly debatable and speculative)

more reliable user etc.

2024
Saad - DE 82.7% (Rated above average)
Maynard 72.4% (Rated below average)
Saad - Kicking efficiency 79.3% (Rated above average)
Maynard KE 69.8% (Rated below average)

As Robertio said.

Mitchell's level isn't the same as it used be, McStay is average at best but I'll give you Sidebottom he's an A grader.

Weren't you saying you would prefer Tom Mitchell to Charlie Curnow in a finals game in 2025?

I wonder what "every coach in the league" would think about that

Anyone who's watched Tom Mitchell in finals is fully aware he's an elite performer on a big stage.

Regardless of Curnow, he is comfortably ahead of Silvagni and Pittonet....

You're right about Mitchell - at his best he was a Brownlow Medallist! Check out his 2023 performances - 4th in the B&F in a premiership year, and votes in the Norm Smith Medal.

Also check out McStay's finals performances in the same year.

If they're C Graders, the likes of Pittonet and Silvagni are E Graders.

If I was given both Carlton and Collingwood's lists and told to pick my best team at round 1 2025 it'd be this:

B: Perryman Weitering Maynard
HB: Houston Moore Howe
C: J Daicos Cripps Crisp
HF: Elliot Curnow Degoey
FF: TDK McKay Hill
R: Cameron, Naicos, Walsh
I: Pendlebury, Sidebottom, kemp, McReery
Sub: Hoskin Elliot

Tried to be as unbiased as possible. This is based on who I think are the best players available for each position. Went for WHE ahead of Acres as sub because of versatility.

Pretty good.

But you forgot Pick 4 in the 2024 Draft!

(And I'd have a fit TDK in the ruck ahead of Cameron, who'd be on the bench).

I'm not going to compare players that play different positions. Saad and Maynard even have slightly different roles but imo Saad is the more complete player. Obviously if I am taking a player for the next 5 years I'm taking Maynard but both at their peak (so far) I'm taking Saad.
LMFAO.

Maynard every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

So it's biased for a Carlton supporter to say Saad is better but not biased for a Collingwood supporter to say Maynard is better. Brilliant
Maynard and Crisp have the runs on the board.

Maynard is an AA, who was 2nd in the BnF in 2023 in our premiership year, and he remains in his prime.

Crisp is a dual Copeland trophy winner, who came 4th in the BnF in 2024. He is a much better player.

But Saad is better....because he plays for Carlton.

Harsh on Newman (give him the nod over Perryman)
And stick Cerra in ahead of a 40 year old Sidey if we are talking 2025.

I've given reasons as to why Saad is better than Maynard. Saad has an AA as well but it is irrelevant. Comparing players based on BnFs makes no sense either - you can't be going on and on about how Carlton are top heavy and then use BnF results as anything meaningful. It's a lot harder for Saad to finish top 6 than Maynard.

Just curious.
Did every single coach select Maynard over Saad, when you asked them?

I don’t have to run the survey as it is common sense.

I think every coach would answer 2+2 is 4 - do I have to survey them to confirm this suspicion?

Really?

Nic Newman has finished runner up in your last two best and fairests!

See my earlier post. Yeah. As I said, probably all coaches would take Maynard. He's younger. They would probably want him to fix up his disposal and kicking efficiency though as it's not good. Really poor in fact.
I think most people would answer 2+2=4, but that wasn't the question.
