This is ridiculous! We need his leadership out there! Those kids are gonna get thumped into shape, but Houla is gonna be filing his nails thinking he's a class act!

Silly move!

I dunno about all that. I would have been keen to see him get another run under his belt but I am sure a lot of the players have sore spots that they would play with in the normal season but in this competition would be rested for.

They are just making sure all players get a run as these games are just glorified practice matches.

Spot on J.

Given that he missed almost the entire season his legs, and esp his hips/groins/adductors will be at increased risk of overloading.

They will be monitoring very closely how much running he is doing so as not to end up with an osteiitis type problem from doing too much.

Not sure why anyone is getting so worked up about our ins and outs this week. lead story in the sports news? FFS.

Play the kids.

Aim for round 1 and beyond. :thumbsu:

Yeah , Im with you BB.

After coming back from such a lengthy lay off and having to slowly build up the workload over the pre-season, a break from match-like running etc. is simply good management.

It's just the nab cup after all.

Because we'd rather rest him now and ensure he is ready, along with his leadership, for round 1, as opposed to risking him in a game that means nothing compared to the real stuff.

It is called player management, and it is a smart thing to do when we have bigger fish to fry over the coming months.

He missed most of last year with injury and played all of 5 games.
I would have though he could do with the run and would be one of the last players who needed a rest.

He's still done the preseason the same as everyone else, so no harm in resting him. Poor guy is sleepy, they have to get up early sometimes you know.

Gee I hate doing this, but I agree with you J.

Well to me it says he is going to play a lot of senior football this year.

To be omitted along with those players speaks volumes with how highly Carlton rate him imo.

He's very talented, and if i didn't know and anyone said to me he was picked up in the top 10 in last years draft, i'd believe them. Going to play a hell of a lot of footy for Carlton, and may very play most, if not all games this year if his form permits it.

He does have a modeling career you know...
