The reason they put Assange in the slammer for so long is no leaking info, or his dealings in the 2016 campaign, but because he so clearly articulated the way that forever war in its differing theatres (Afghanistan, Iraq, Ukraine) is simply a way of laundering money from US taxpayers into the pockets of the political and business elite.

Two types of people in the world - those who understand that, and those who buy the bullshit to sell the wars.

According to local media Julian has arrived in Bangkok. Land of the Free.

Also a place with quite a history of people being dragged out of the airport and disappearing into a CIA black prison.

Hmmm ... turns out right.

(I'm equally surprised Albo got him such a good deal, apparentley Rudd involved too)

Emma Shortis, senior researcher at The Australia Institute think tank, told AFP that both Canberra and Washington had a "recognition that this had to end."

"There was just no way this wasn't becoming an issue for the (US-Australia) alliance," Shortis said.

In a perfect just world where America does not shadow govern our country with its five-eyes network of letter agency bases built around the country, meddling with our politics and establishing a proxy military presence as a subservient nation, Australia would welcome him home as a hero and have him speak candidly about what he's been through and what's going on.

Wikileaks did the world a net positive more than any other online initiative project in the advent of web 3.0 locking down the flow of information and making it near impossible for anyone to blow the whistle on governments and corporations.

And in that perfect world also includes North Melbourne rolling out the carpet for him to be in the stands at a home game welcomed by the public and sitting amongst the fans and its goes down as a proud moment in our history for a citizen who should be celebrated for what they've done.

But alas, that perfect world is not this.

I hope someone is waiting for him at the airport with a North scarf and a beanie.
Genuinely he's going to be the most in demand photo op tomorrow morning.

SOMEONE do this please

is he the biggest interview ever for Aussie networks to get?
Huge! Will be interesting to see what exclusions there are in his deal with the yanks. Suggestion is there has been a few deals offered over the last few years that his camp rejected.

He'll also struggle with the Proceeds of Crime laws
