I saw him play every game in the National under 18 champs
He played real good consistent football.

From what I know hes done a full pre season without injuries

If my memory serves me right he was amongst the best players named for the Freo game. I would say there is a better the average chance that he will play round one, assuming no hickups!

having played with Xav at school for a few years i wonder this year as a 'first year' player having never been a backline player always forwards/midfield if he'll be able to adapt to his game...wondering if anyone will think he will be ok in defence?

Missed the first few pre-season games with injury (hamstring) came back in last week against Freo and got in the best players. Great kick of the football, and runs to space well.

Still a little under sized but should see him get a fair bit of game time this year I imagine. Not sure about round 1 but will be in the mix.

No.
It would be fairer to say hes our Luke Ball.

Player X (lol) is a skinny, long-term, running type of midfielder. He has had injuries and has had no impact in his first year. Seen as being a potential 3 year wait before he does much, the club asks supporters to be patient.

Sounds like Tambling all over to me. Just don't write him off as quickly as you wrote off Bling!

How does he sound like Tambling to you????
He was never going to play last year for any side that drafted him.....
He will Debut this year and Hawthorn doesnt have to rush him as they have with some players in previous years.

The Kid has Talent and will be a very good player for the Hawks but from what I have seen of Tambling the Jury could still be out.... might not cut it.

Tambling has a full year and 2 preseasons under his belt while Xavier decided to complete his schooling.
Oh and just an fyi, while Xavier was at school Tambling was busy doing 45 hamstrings, 18 ankles and getting cramp walking from his bed to the front door.

Tambling is more Copperart than Bling mate!
