First of all, I thought about making a separate Div 1 thread, but we'll see how we go with a general thread first up. If it looks like it'll become too confusing we can just start a separate Div 2 thread.

My thoughts on who should manage the 12 teams (this has pretty much been agreed as a good number by most posters) for the inaugural Div 1 are as follows:

1. richcogs (The Melbourne Tigers)
2. doofdoof (doof)
3. R_n_B (The Swedish Chefs)
4. Bradesmaen (That Team)
5. Cassius Clay (The Mighty Pucks)
6. Maddog39 (Maddog)
7. The Awesome and Mighty -VC- (Stellar Stastny)
8. Peter Sidorkiewicz (Peter Sidorkiewicz)
9. Lethal (Lethal's Lynchmob)
10. jimmy_clement_#8 (Monster Mash)
11. Crosby87 (The 87s)
12. Marns (Wolverines)

Basically this was last year's Top 12 with one exception. Morro's Mad****s (bush_tucker87) didn't make my list because he was in a position to make the Top 6 last year with a solid squad but stopped managing his team for long periods of time. Marns finished 13th only one point behind Morro's and kept managing his team pretty much all the way through (he went overseas so he may have lapsed for a short while occasionally). He's also been commissioner for the last two seasons and has played every season since we've started with some solid results.

I feel that's the only one I need to justify because the other 11 have last year's results to speak for them. Catters078 and sens_bombers are the only other ones that were really in consideration.

If anyone has any suggestion, a list of their own, changes to the stat categories from last year or whatever just throw it in here for us to discuss before setting up the league.

Personally I think this is a pretty ****ing cool idea. Who was the one who suggested the two divisions? Props.

4th... FOURTH?! I want to be first :p

I say we kick out Stellar Stastny too ;) (I'm in one of those moods :D)

Bl to catters, but if we were to have two divisions then I'd be up for catters running the second. He's a top poster on this board and always around.

I think a div 2 thread could be a good idea to avoid the confusion. I would suggest the first post could list the teams participating similar to this thread.

My suggestions on this season (posted in the other thread) are as follows:
-Definitely stay as head to head competition rather than points. Its way more fun.
- Increase players on team from 17 to 19.
- Increase IR spots to 2 per team.
- Draft date should be not earlier than a week before season start.

Good list. Finally will have a very competitive fantasy league. Shame catters isn't in the 12. Hopefully someone pulls out. I guess it'll be only the first year that he's in div2 so it's not too bad I guess. Let's hope div2 is good anyway

Yeah, catters is a bit stiff, but he did finish like 14th or 15th last year (too many Stars) :p

Oh yeah and the Top 6 teams there were done on how they placed last year after playoffs. You could've been first. The ball was in your court. ;)

Awesome! Can't wait to get started!
catters has set up everything for the Div.2 league.
So will the details for the Div.I draft, league name etc., be posted here or PMed to those participating?

Feel for catters, great poster on this board, good Western Conference guy, really should be in divvy 1, but I guess the positive, glass half-full style, of being in divvy 2 (if we can't make room for him in div 1) is that he'd be the bookies short-priced favourite to take it out at this stage.

Marns' gonna commish again or what's happening?

Thanks boys, would have been fun to play div 1 but ill do my best to make sure div 2 is a competitive and active league, so far we have 6 and with a bit of luck we can get to at least 12, the guys that have joined so far seem to know their stuff so hopefully it will be a deep league like div 1.

I'll set up a league in a couple of hours and PM the code to all of the teams. I'll use the same set up as last year except I will take on board Peter Sidorkiewicz's suggestions for roster sizes and IR. No one seemed to object to them and I reckon they sound pretty good. It can all be altered anyway if there's a few points of contention, but you guys should pretty much know what to expect.

I'll put a draft date in only because I'll be asked to, but we can change it later if it doesn't suit. With the 12 guys we have we really need to be able to find a time that at least 10 players can make - ideally all 12 if that's possible.

I have set up the league and sent out PM's. It is currently set as an offline draft until we decide on a suitable time. Unfortunately the weekend before the NHL starts is Grand Final week of the AFL. It'd either have to be on a weeknight or the Sunday if we're doing it around that date.

The draft date doesn't bother me too much. But, if we decide a weeknight, I would prefer the time be before 11pm. Unless it's a Tuesday night, in which , any time is fine with me.

How about we set the draft up for the Fri night before the Grand Final then? That Fri night should suit Bradesmaen from what he has said, but is the Fri night too close to the GF for you VC?

Just did a mock draft with 14 players, at Pick 12. I think I did pretty good.

1. Henrik Zetterberg (Det - C)
2. Nicklas Lidstrom (Det - D)
3. Tim Thomas (Bos - G)
4. Steve Mason (Cls - G)
5. Marian Hossa (Chi - RW)
6. Phil Kessel (Bos - RW)
7. Duncan Keith (Chi - D)
8. David Krejci (Bos - C)
9. Milan Michalek (SJ - LW)
10. Ryane Clowe (SJ - LW)
11. Marc-Edouard Vlasic (SJ - D)
12. Mattias Ohlund (TB - D)
13. T.J. Oshie (StL - C)
14. Blake Wheeler (Bos - RW)
15. Sean Avery (NYR - LW)
16. Matt Niskanen (Dal - D)

I'm in again.

Agree with all the comments re Catters - fully expect him to win division 2 and advance after one year.

As previously mentioned I think we should add max moves of 50 to the settings, especially with the increased roster sizes

The draft time might be tough for me living in San Francisco. If there is any chance at all to have it during the day on a weekend that would be brilliant, but I understand that evening are probably best for most. If so I could make it if held at 5pm or earlier. Aussie Sunday evening would also work as I could just stay up on my Saturday night ;-)
