ok, thread to keep track of how you went on your genuine 50-50 calls.

of course we were considering every guy that scored 100 in the first round :)p), but i'm talking of the genuine gus who you were tossing up over.

can't do all of mine for now cause heading to pub for west coast game, and as is the nature of humans i can only think of the ones i am behind on after round 1:

1) Harry Taylor (423k) v Jack Grimes (428k)

Tossed up for ages and ages and ages. Had Taylor in, but changed in the dying hours to Grimes. So far i'm down about 60 points.

2) Cyril Rioli and Pavlich (???) v Mark LeCras and Lance Franklin.

LeCras will need to pull something good to get me back to even here. This might be a bit off i can't remember.

One i am winning on is Swan over Goddard as captain. that's in front by about 30.

another i'm winning is Gibbs and Duffield over Scotland and Deledio. that's another 30 points i gained there.

as said heading out now. will do mine proper tomorrow and plan on keeping track and of course there is the all important upgrades and downgrades later on in the season!!!

Brown vs not Brown. Not well. :(

Tapscott vs Darling on the field. Not promising so far. I actually thought I had Tapscott on the field watching the game and had an unpleasant surprise post-game.

Most of my 50/50s will be sized up next week, when GC plays for the first time.

rioli v pavlich is the big one i was tossing up over

rioli was 20k cheaper and i knew he'd be playing more midfield time bumping up his numbers substantially but for some reason i kept looking at him in my team and it didn't feel right....i put pav in and it just looked stronger and felt safer.

when i watched the game and saw pav playing in the mids like he was after barlows injury last year, i knew my decision was probably the wrong one....

in the end pav will likely end up a top 7 fwd scorer anyways so it might not end up TOO badly but PUT HIM IN THE FORWARD LINE HARVEY YOU PRICK!! :p

Not exactly a 50-50 call as I was reasonably confident, but taking Johncock over Gibbs.

I was expecting Gibbs to cop a tight tag regularly and for Johncock to roam around, rebounding and scoring well consistently. Instead, I saw Gibbs running around without an opponent, whilst Johncock faced a tight forward tag. If this continues, I'm in trouble. It's already cost me 97 points.

I also decided not to bring in Curnow and Tapscott at the last moment in fear of the two doing what Relton Roberts did last year.

You can't judge 50/50 calls on 1 week

This is a game of averages. I wouldn't even look at my side until after round 2

Richardson v Tapscott on the field. Went Richardson, will find out soon enough!

Bottled it on Friday and swapped out Sandi for Jolly so I could bring in Higgins for Knights and downgraded Swan to Pendlebury. I was delirious on Cold & Flu tabs and was running a fever. Someone should have saved me from myself :)

Darling vs Tapscott, Pretty happy so far but time will tell
Gwilt vs Everitt, think im on a winner here gwilt looked like hes building itno a pretty good player
Kennedy vs Rockliffe, each way bet atm
Curnow vs Bewick, :thumbsu:
Goodes vs Rioli, bit disapointed atm but its only round 1, and i will bring rioli in at some stage
Richardson vs Tapscott Starting, Again time will tell but i think i pulled the wrong rein.
All in all reasonably happy so far

Cam Bruce or Grimes.

Although one week is hard to gauge, 50k and about 50 pts so far. Expect Grimes to break down at some stage this year and Bruce to improve...or my season is f'ed.

Goodes vs Brown - Turned out to be the right decision thank god, but let down by Goodesy's score, especially that there was no intent on moving him to the midfield.
Tapscott vs Richardson - Picked Richardson, lost 40 odd points, not too big of a deal but i'll go with tappy from now on.
Bewick vs Liberatore - Lost another 20 points not too big of a deal, because Swallow will be a perma starter i don't have to worry about this decision again.

Didak over Pav - Bad
Sylvia over Yarran/Higgins - awesome
Rawlings/Grimes over Broughton/Enright/Johncock/Bruce etc - Not perfect, but I'm happy with it. How come no-one takes Rawlings in SC? Part of me taking him was just sheer curiosity.

I got a lot right considering I had to finalise selection on Thursday night and drive 800km through Friday with no reception, but some of my 50/50's are looking pretty ugly at end of rd.1.

Selwood/Yarran V Bartel/Fyfe

Goodes V Fyfe (clashing bye)

Yarran/Hurley V rookies I was too unsure about considering I was going to miss the final lockout and final selections

Franklin/Boyd V Rioli/Pendlebury

Deledio/Grimes V Rawlings (how many incidents of 'hamstring tightness' can one player have over a pre-season? :p)/Taylor (I could include Enright but in fairness he was only in 20% of the pre-season)

Boyd V Watson/Bartel

A defining part of my selection was that almost all the players I left out in the above equations I like far more as footballers and people than the 'head' selections I went with...really biting me in the arse so far that I didn't go 'heart over head' and show more guts, by next week hopefully things look a little brighter. ;)

I got Jack Reiwoldt right so far and at that price he was almost first picked, too many questions hanging over most of the rest of the top forwards. I left Broughton out to play Lower as my onfield defensive rookie and not have no emergency at the mega-bye, I jagged Tapscott on a hunch just risking that I'd have no forward emergency if one onfield rookie missed selection (have Matera and Dixon benched), I tossed up for an hour over whether to have Swan or be super unique and have Cox captain (LMAO at nailing that outcome for absolutely zero gain), overall I've got a solid foundation to build from and the couple of hundred points I am behind the pack was simply due to too many premiums failing who hopefully won't give me too many repeat performances of this round.

Deledio over Enright...hmm might backfire
Didak over other prem fwds-he looks underdone

On the upside, getting McKernan in at the last minute looks good and all my rookies performed really well.

For me Trengove/Foley over Otten/Cotchin maybe Goodes over Sylvia/Okeefe and on Bench Bewick Libba over Curnow.

Foley over Cotchin was forced by the budget. Swapping Harris for Curnow on bench would give me enough to have Cotchin completing a starting midfield of

Swan, Selwood, Judd, Pendlebury, Boak, Cotchin.

Really want to see Selwood back scoring well in round 2.

Would like Trengove to be a unique pick to hopefully knock up some good scores then change to Bock if he performs well after GC second bye.

I would like to see Goodes relieve me with a good score too.

My defence rookies in tarrant heppel and lower were excellent.

Not sure why people are throwing Selwood in here. :p

He got injured! Would have been well on his way to a 120+ score by the end of the match had he not gotten cleaned up. Over the course of the season i'd be backing him to score more than Bartel by the end of it.

Fair chance the Geelong hierarchy will choose not to risk him on the trip to Perth this week. If that happens, he'll be around 200 points behind Bartel, which would be tough to make up.

Took out Foley and replaced him with Cotchin. But at the same time inserted Yarran and I can't remember who I took out (Sylvia??) but not happy. Although L Davis was the other option at that stage too.
