Got a similar local council (Bunbury WA) pass-ag message this week. Pretty sure its revenue raising without considering the lost side effects of pure comedy generated when those scooter bods look up from texting and mow into a bin.

That's utter garbage. Certainly the pergola issue. How and why a council flouts its own planning laws is just infuriating.

The thing that annoyed me off the most is how they cry poor yet can find $80k to build a pointless outbuilding to cater for three or 4 people in a very quiet council building.

There is so much double handling etc due to multiple municipalities who all have their own unique customer interface systems. If I was emperor, I would amalgamate all councils and standardise all systems and processes which I think would result in more resources that could be used elsewhere.
