LOL! I just re-read it and it does sound like a eulogy! He was a science teacher but is now retired. He was an elite sportsman but is now too old. He was a prophetic man, but now I'm older I realise he is just full of shit like the rest of us. He is a top bloke though!
Nothing to profound. My old man was a science teacher and an elite sportsman in his day (baseball) and it was one of his favourite sayings to us growing up. It was usually in response to us whinging about something or the unfairness of it all, and would usually be followed up about with comments about putting in the hard yards to get something rather than just wishing for something. Prophetic man was my father!
