So why don't we start drafting mids? We have an issue with recruiting them. In the era of the midfielders we are a dinosaur doing our own thing based on model that won WCE a premiership by an unlikely point. We must be obsessed with history repeating. Fans have wanted to draft mids since Lenny Hayes was still playing, we seem to find HBFs that we hope might play mids year after year.
Did we not just draft 3 of them?
NWM Owens and Windhager

Is Collingwood's midfield that good? Adams obviously, De Goey if he plays in there maybe, Sidebum and Pendles are seriously getting on..am I missing something? I would expect our midfield to match up on theirs nicely even without Jones.
agreed should still cover them its literally adams crisp (whose a half back flanker turned mid) dd goey grundy
and young players

Has anyone had any luck buying multiple member upgrade tickets? Think I've seen others having issues with this, so if anyone's figured something out I'd really appreciate hearing about it
When I went directly to the Ticketmaster website, no matter which ticketing option I chose, after entering the member numbers it said something along the lines of "no allocations available".

When I instead followed the link in the Saints members email, it worked perfectly (bought 2 tickets) 🤷‍♂️

I really looking to see how Gresham goes , he actually looks to be in the best shape he has been in and with Marshall , Steele and Crouch there is no reason our midfield can't get the job done.

Jones is a moderate loss on the clearance front, but the biggest loss (and the same goes for Clark) is the creativity and unpredictability of our ball movement which he (and Clark) creates. We really need need Gresham, Hill and Sinclair to fill the void in this regard.

FFS we are freaking out about matching the side that finished second last on the ladder last year. I was kind of hoping that we might be aiming a bit higher than that. It's going to be a long season if we are trying to nullify North Melbourne, Hawks and Collingwood in team selection.
I’ve just seen this. So I’m responding now.

Jones, Clark, Billings, most likely Ryder, potentially Bytel.

If you want to include Hanners - he is another.

That’s a lot of midfield and midfield depth missing for this game.

Clearly the club have concerns we could lose the game here. Which I think is perfectly understandable. These questions are asked any selection night. The try to plan for these scenarios. They want to be prepared.

Should we win? Yes.

But if we lose, it will be purely on their midfield getting on top. If Grundy is at his best, that’s a big concern. If Sidebottom gets on top. That’s a concern - he kills us.

Last thing we need is the pies bandwagon to get behind them because the 2 Daicos boys are making us look silly.

However, if we can breakeven in the centre - seeing as we are undermanned here. I back us to win the match ups at either end.

Both to kick a score and to defend one.

From what I saw, I don’t think Ryder will play. But they are pushing and testing him. Hayes will partner Marshall if he doesn’t and he will have to compete + hit the scoreboard directly or indirectly via creating opportunities for the smalls.

Surely Ryder training with the first team is a good thing.

Of course it is but rushing him back for a bottom 4 side could derail us when we really need him later on.

7 AFL "experts" tipped Collingwood to win vs 5 to us

Actually prefer that, we get ahead of ourselves and lose the easy ones every now and again. Favourites just gives us an excuse to trip over at the starting line again.

WangMill looks like a Hill style wingman, Owens looks potentially a mid and Windy a forward mid. I'm talking a pure Olly Wines/ Clayton Oliver ball pig style midfielder. We can't win clearance without Ryder who is minutes from retirement but don't seem to address a lack of clearance specialists.
