Looks like the new coach boost of the pies, blues and hawks only lasted a few weeks. Cripps out is a huge blow for them, he has been gary ablett jnr with gold coast level of carrying them this year

Shit, Ollie Wines has myocarditis.

That's disturbing.

I'm am sure the reactionaries on the other side will work it out soon but I fail to see how the AFL, the clubs and any employer generally can argue that it has discharged its non-delegable duty of care. There are some big payouts in the making of all of this.

Doesn't have myocarditis so probably hold fire on AFL duty of care angle.

Did dodo consider bringing in Will Brodie at all?? he's had a good start to his time at Freo

That's what was being reported.

It's not the only heart issue, by the way.

Yep, there has been a number of current players, draftees etc that have had varying heart issues over a fairly lengthy period of time.

Whole discussion about it starting here:

Yeah but if you ignore all them, no AFL player has had a heart issue pre-vaccine. Clearly a conspiracy.

I think most people's thoughts are "elite athlete can't have heart issues" and that isn't a horrendous take but there would be a higher incidence of heart troubles in AFL players vs their non sportsman age demographics purely because they are screened for it.

Yep, also whilst these guys (along with other elite athletes) are super fit, it also means that what would be a relatively inconsequential issue for the average person, is a genuine issue when trying to play elite sport.

It would be great, if the science wasn't as settled as it is, so that this issue could be discussed.

But, you know, when you're on the censoring side of history, when have you ever been wrong?

It's pretty settled.

The vaccine isn't causing a drastic upswing in heart issues in elite athletes, with any incidents of myocarditis being both uncommon, and mild.

Also, cases like this one get shared around without anyone bothering to check it out;

What exactly is it that you are trying to say?
That Wines does have myocarditis?

What does the judicial system have to do with assessing medical data?

I often marvel at the ease with which journalism graduates, bearing in mind I have looked at this specific fact check, have developed the ability to synthesis and test information it takes a judge, at least 2 adversarial parties, experts, a few years prep and a hearing to determine in the real world.

Heart problems have been around forever. I was talking to Leigh Matthew's brother Calvin in the TAB just after he retired years ago and he said it was because of a dicky ticker.
Yes I agree it has been around for ages. You drive a car flat out all the time and you end up with engine problems…maybe the kids are training too much 🤷🏻‍♀️
4 players had issues back in 2018 so it appears to be a common problem prior to 2022

Again though, what does the judicial system have to do with assessing medical information?

If I want experts on a legal matter, I'll talk to a lawyer.

If I want experts on fixing a car, I'll talk to a mechanic.

If I want experts on immunisations, I'll talk to ATAGI.
