I think we will definitely struggle to replace stringer. At times last season stringer was not only our best forward but also our best cb player. Scott used him as the X factor guy to give us a spark and don’t think we have anyone ready to take on that load. Opposition always put time and a good defender into him too

Maybe you could argue pressure might be better, or potentially more determined roles up forward. Still think we will miss what he brings

100%

People acting like it was Stringers fault Darcy kicks it out of bounds instead of hitting his chest when hes 5m in the clear or that ****ing Jye Menzie can't spot Stringer in the forward pocket by himself for 20 seconds.

Would've finished 14th, maybe 15th last year without Stringer, not drawing Anzac Day (thrown in the middle for the first time last year and leads the game for clearances and contested possessions) or beating Freo (4 goals, should've had 5-6 but Parish and Menzie happened) without him so that's 6 points just from 2 games.

Naughton v Wright

I believe you can get suspended in f intra club games what he did was no different to wright. love to see how the afl gets out of this one
Not sure you can get suspended for a non AFL-sanctioned match (this was a match-sim between two clubs, not an official practice match). Happy to be corrected on that.

As for being suspended, it's all outcome-based now, I think that's pretty clear from the past couple of years.

I would have thought the rules apply to non sanctioned games especially when they have supposed afl umpires adjudicating then.

If not then why play to the rules and just do what that dickhead does attacking the player and not the ball. It's was a weak as piss act and far more intentional than what 2mp did and had a very high likelihood of causing injury

Good to see McKay there.
Looks like we'll be starting the season with an underdone McKay and maybe no Ridley at all. Hayes might finally get his debut.
Ridley is playing the Praccy

Haven't read / seen much about Hayes.
Where do we feel he's at?
If one of either Reid, McKay, or Ridley go down I honesty see him cementing his spot in the team. If the others play full seasons I wonder whether he’ll be on our list next year. If he gets a taste of the main stuff he might just grab his chance.

From the little I’ve seen he seems to now have the body that looks AFL ready but needs to believe he’s the lynch-pin of a defensive unit.

Think you are on the money. McKay / Reid / Ridley would be the first 3 but any injury Hayes will be the next in line. He is contracted next year so we hold that advantage but I can not see us getting through a whole season without an injury so he should play a few games.

So ahead of Laverde you reckon?
Hopefully you're right.

Laverde has been in the modified group and has not played any match sim so far.

I reckon he’ll request a trade if he can’t get a look in or cement a spot.

Maybe but it gets said every year. People where saying he would request a trade last time around and he signed again. It is not something I really speculate on at this stage. There will be clubs keeping an eye on him for sure .

If Reid can play 20 games this year I won't be too upset if Hayes requests a trade. I'd be looking around for a Zach Merrett type. He might play until he's 32, but the way he goes at it could also mean the drop off is telling and sooner than we think.
