What am I missing? I would’ve thought going straight to the tribunal opens the possibility that they can successfully argue one or both the “intentional” and the “severe” gradings.

Everyone saying min 4 weeks because it’s gone straight up. Not that straight forward is it?

Of course it could go the other way and he gets more than 4 thrown at him.

Afl website says it was classified as intentional.
I know I have my Geelong googles on but * me this could result in us hurting our top 4 chances.
Henry goes back, Rohan comes in
Thank god we have a bye this week
So really should only miss 3 games

There's two articles on the AFL website and both say different things - but the MRO grading one says "careless":

Charges laid:

Tom Stewart,
Geelong Cats, has been charged with Rough Conduct against Dion Prestia, Richmond, during the first quarter of the Round 15 match between the Geelong Cats and Richmond played at the MCG on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

In summary, the player has been referred directly to the Tribunal and cannot accept an early plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, Severe Impact, High Contact. The incident was classified as a direct referral to the Tribunal and the player cannot accept an early plea.

Unsuspened that degen I want him to respond to my recepits

I don't think you really want that

Baiting and/or fishing, even if it's going after opposition board posters is an infractional offence - and with the shit we've be dealing with over the past 24 or so hours, that sort of thing won't be tolerated by the locals trying to catch out opposition posters

have another look, it was 5 years ago, your memory is failing you champ.
This “champing” on an opposition board has been graded as intentional, dumb and severe, resulting in a mandatory suspension.

Surely we argue the severity grading.

I thought it deserved 3 weeks at the time, nothing more.
I'm also arguing it was in play Prestia was in the frame for the one two from Graham and he was away Stewart action was to impede that play and nothing more.Any player worth his salt would have committed to that approach, unfortunate and accidental result. 2 weeks max 3.

Stewart's absence over the next month or so won't hurt us. He'll do a bit of a mini pre-season, get himself in top shape, hit the last month of the H&A and be ready for September. Meanwhile, we have others like Z.Guthrie who are ready to step up.
Yep I'm not too fussed with Stewart missing. Have him primed for finals this year, unlike last year.

3 is pretty right imo. He'll get 5 though.

A few tough games though. Melbourne, Carlton and probably Port in Port.

Our blokes always lay a body on around a contest, it's not a malicious thing.. But I feel it's a deliberate thing, just that body on pressure, anything to make players 2nd guess or even just to help wear them down (especially with our physically large team) but you watch any game and when a player dishes off a handball they nearly always have the player who was chasing or pressuring lay body contact on..

Tom was just trying to do that, hit the body, physically remind any player that we are around... But he both miscalculated badly his timing and also the size of his opponent and it resulted in a really bad situation/outcome.

I felt 4 was what he'd get when it happened, still think that but also who knows with the tribunal

Anyone comparing it to Gaff/Solomon/Hall etc are dead set having a shocker, any Tiger fan melting about the game STILL probably needs to go out and get some fresh air, it's just a game Ffs
