Can’t stand the TJ view of this (and he’s not alone). 6 weeks ago it’s “there’s no way they’ll be able to land Clarko” and now that it looks like we’ve got him, it immediately switches to “oh gee, is he the answer for them? Big risk”.

That was always going to be the case. No surprises there.

Ol’ Chompers is harsh and his thought process is a bit wrong but probably feels someone has to provide the alternative view when Damo isn’t doing it.

In reality though our last 2 coaches have been an assistant with barely a few years experience as an assistant who won a few games with an outdated and unsustainable gameplan, and a guy who hadn’t been relevant in the coaching space ever and hadn’t coached in over a decade who wanted to delegate the brunt of the tactical/coaching work to a few other blokes who had no clue. So compared to those two, the greatest coach of the modern era is a lot safer of a bet albeit a lot more expensive.

If clarko has the right people and list around him he will succeed, it’s as simple as that.

Damo’s tune appears to have changed due to Sonja’s effort in resetting the relationship which works in our favour. She’s done it well.
