Ginnivan also faked for free kicks and baited oppo supporters by ‘shooshing’ them.

Goodes was booed due to racism.

Ginnivan is booed for something obviously other than racism.

If Ginnivan was indigenous would his current treatment be regarded as racist ? We all know it would.

I think, if players are coming out and saying it's effecting them on a personal level, then lets just stop booing those players? Ginnivan is good for the game, to many players don't have personality anymore.

There is an etiquette to booing at the footy:
1) Booing at an umpire for any free kick against Richmond (event the blatant ones) is ok
2) Booing at Tom Stewart for the rest of his career is ok
3) Booing at Joel Selwood, Jack Ginnivan, Cody Weightman etc. for ducking is ok
4) Booing at Jason Castagna is not ok

I agree, some vaudeville boo’ing is great theatre. On-going and incessant boo’ing is not ok, particularly after it’s clearly affecting someone’s mental health.

But not everything negative that happens to an indigenous person is due to racism. Goodes AOTY speech included a line with the sentiment that he was ashamed to be an Australian. I understand where he’s coming from given the history, but it’s hardly going to endear him to the rank and file footy supporter in the outer, regardless of color.

The boo’ing of Goodes was way over the top and should have been stamped out earlier.

Boo’ing Ginnivan when injured on the bench is also way over the top. I’m not sure why the AFL have not come out to condemn it given they were too late to do anything about Goodes and Ginnivan has publicly said his mental health is suffering. Seems they’ve learnt nothing.

Look what happened to Goodes was ordinary but again the booing started well before the AOTY speech and was footy related, I was disgusted to be labeled a racist because I might have booed someone, and a lot of people would have been in the same boat, the ginnivan thing is that racist?
