In what is a must win game for the VFL side, they face Frankston at Punt Road on Saturday afternoon in the lead up to our round 23 game against Essendon at the MCG. As it stands the VFL side currently sit 9th, level on points with 8th place but obviously a lower %. What makes it such a big deal is that firstly having our VFL side running around in finals while we're in the finals in the AFL is important as it keeps fringe players in game shape. Secondly the team that is sitting in 8th place in the VFL is Carlton who face 6th place Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday, with the Pies a chance of breaking into the top 4 to get the second chance. Which could mean that Carlton could very well suffer the ultimate final round heartbreak and be kicked out of finals in both competitions.

If that happens it could very well be the moment that the Big Footy servers finally buckle under the weight of Blues fans hearts being shattered.

Five AFL clubs have been sanctioned for breaching Covid rules with $225,000 of fines, amid claims some rapid antigen tests (RATs) were falsified.

Sydney has received the heaviest fine with a $100,000 sanction, $50,000 of that suspended, coming out of this year’s soft cap.

Collingwood ($50,000, half suspended) and Richmond ($25,000, half suspended) have also been fined while Brisbane and St Kilda had their $25,000 fines fully suspended.

The breaches include:

- not undertaking a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within the period prescribed by the Protocols, and/or

- not uploading an image (photograph) of a prescribed RAT within the period prescribed by the Protocols; and/or

- Uploading an image taken of a previous RAT undertaken by that or another person.

“The AFL insists no clubs throughout the competition gained an advantage on match day, or a competitive advantage,” Seven’s Andrew McCormack reported.

If Rutten is sacked as almost expected I have no doubt Dimma will give him a phone call and enquire if he would be interested in returning to Richmond in a defensive coach role. Dimma reached out to Teague after he got sacked and its done wonders to our forwardline scoring power this year.
