Player Watch #8: Bailey Scott - signs until end 2026

Bailey was our equal number one for bounces this year at 10 (equal with LDU and JHF). Telling that he provides run & carry out of the HBF and along a wing where it can be super useful to break down oppo defensive structures. For me his value isn't necessarily as a super high meter's gained run and gun player but to find space, run 15-25 metres so defenders who are pressing are caught out of position and a forward handpass/chip kick can find a team mate in space. Then if the forward line is relatively open he can continue to push forward to link in the chain again. Nobody else on our team seems to have this ability currently and I assume Bailey's strengths only continue to get stronger as he hits the 50-100 game mark.

So, the reality is, nobody has a damn clue, least of all the sports writers who make up stuff and proffer opinions as if they were facts.

Whatever the truth is, it's yet to be publicly revealed.

Ralphie keeps on changing the copy on this story. Now reckons Geelong are basically in the boxseat.

Young Roo set to follow Dad’s footsteps

Geelong is poised to pinch Bailey Scott from North Melbourne in an early blow for new coach Alastair Clarkson.

The Cats have been in dialogue with Scott’s management for some time and may have already convinced the 22-year-old dasher to change clubs before Clarkson was appointed.

Scott had the option of joining the Roos and Geelong as a father-son selection in 2018, because his dad, Robert, played more than 100 games for both clubs – but he was also eligible as an Academy pick for Gold Coast.

It’s understood North Melbourne has offered him a multi-year contract to stay.

Scott averaged a career-most 18 disposals in 21 senior appearances in a new defensive role this season but can also slot in on a wing or across half-forward.

He bought a home in Altona, which is only a 50-minute drive to Geelong.

Industry sources believe Scott would be worth a pick in the second or third round, but the latter would be a disappointing result for the Kangaroos after developing him for four years.

The Cats are also linked with contracted Giants midfielder Jacob Hopper and Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy, so they could be major players in the trade period.

Bought a house in Altona - only 15 mins from North Melbourne!

s**t yeah forgot, that we certainly did. Although I don’t ever recall Matty Armstrong being upset when missing the 96 GF. Or R Smith for that matter.

Oh well
I thought Ross Smith was pissed about the 96 GF? Not much he could do about it though, great servant of the club who unfortunately had reached the end just before we hit the apex.

I'm sure there are some that actually have a clue, but anyone running with 600k is in the clueless / make up stuff group.

It's interesting how people rate players.

I'd much rather Anthony Stevens (limited but good player, no hall of famer) over Bailey Scott, yet noone ever thought Stevo was a superstar.

Yet Bailey is a star and must keep? Why?

While I disagree with you on how good Bailey is etc your intel has been right in the past (Noble etc).

Very surprised that he would be playing hard ball. It feels like more his manager trying to get more.

Thank you. We have a huge amount available in our salary cap due to being so sh*thouse.

We have maybe 6 players who deserve to earn good coin, anyone coming up for renewal (and a required player like Scott) will try and take advantage and we aren't exactly in a great position to attract players.

Players and managers know this so of course they will try to exploit it.

I would too.

He didn't have any intel on Noble bar constant spamming of how he should get sacked.

Absolutely, factually, he knows nothing about Bailey Scott. His 600k story is categorically untrue.

Absolute nonsense.

I said he had next year until the press statement where we were getting worse, and I maintained he would get sacked.(despite the popular view)

I was proven right, you are just looking for popularity as "beating up on Saintly is so much fun".

You think I talk shit, you are a master of it and people even believe you.

Rubbish, you spammed the thread so much we had to thread ban you. Anything you said was a mix of wishful thinking and commonsense, again please don't present that you have any ITK status.

Thread hasn’t got to food or cooking recipes yet….I’ll come back later.

Nah, Arden just made popcorn.

Favourite topping? It's the $600,000 question.

You are a one-legged man entering into an arse-kicking competition revising history with a moderator.

Lol, sack Noble was the popular view. It's not intel, it's jumping on the bandwagon and wish fulfilment.

Dude, you made one claim of getting info in that thread, on Jun 10th. You said you had info Noble would be sacked if we suffered a 10 goal defeat or got hammered in i50s.

We lost the next 4 games by 49, 57, 112, and 7. Lost the i50s by 14, 16, 49 and -7

He was sacked a month after that claim after we'd lost games by around that margin and got hammered every week bar one in i50s.

You're not going to win this argument.
