Player Watch #8: Bailey Scott - signs until end 2026

Well don’t know about years or money. As I said months ago he is or was shopping himself around.

So he did show a willingness to leave us. His dad has told him he deserves more, is one of our better players. Will be interesting watching this develop.

Robert did not attend the reunion nor receive his life membership is pissed he didn’t play in the 99 premiership side.

If Bailey listens to his dad and his dad is so pissed about 99, why did Bailey choose us over Geelong and Gold Coast?

If you valued a player at 200k below the average salary you wouldn’t be offering them a 4 year deal.
The 150k per year is gauranteed. It doesn't take into account match payments. So if he plays say 20 games, he will get for arguments sake between 10 and 15k per game it pushes him above the average salary. Most contracts are written like this unless you are a star where you are gauranteed a greater % as your base.

6 top 2 in our B&F between 1993-99 and not a superstar?
AFL Hall of fame member, probably the best 2 way runner we have ever had.
Imagine being on such a roll you call a literal Hall of famer "no hall of famer"!?
Also in a post trying to justify your ramblings you write a list of the few high paid "afl quality" players we have to make up our cap floor, but don't include Tarryn who apparently is one of few you claimed was on over 600k a year just a few posts earlier.
LC setting new standards...

He should be, we played Mooney on the bench in a game when we had another midfielder (Stevo) on one leg and no assurances he would make it through the game.

Getting back to Bailey though, if it's about money I suspect this gets sorted. If it's about the misery for playing in a crap team with years of clueless coaching staff then I could understand that.

Shit yeah forgot, that we certainly did. Although I don’t ever recall Matty Armstrong being upset when missing the 96 GF. Or R Smith for that matter.

Oh well

If his dad is so disgruntled about missing out on ‘99 flag it didn’t stop Bailey choosing us in the first instance. As you say, if it’s about the money, hopefully it gets sorted.

Pre-game on his 50th, Sonja came into the Premiership Room and obviously said a few nice things about Bailey and his progress this year, and told us as members (and I paraphrase here) "... get used to seeing Bailey in the royal blue and white because he will be a mainstay for years to come".

There's little doubt to me that the club wants to keep him.

If I was him, I'd be at the reunion but I'd still be cursing the name of Cam Mooney. Yet, for all we know, there were other reasons he wasn't there (as in other commitments).

Bailey is no superstar but what he does for us is very important.
Gut running up and down the ground by giving us options for short chips.
Without him we’d be kicking it long more often.
And don’t forget in the tuggers win - at the end he was the guy that tackled/pressured Aarts.
We need more Baileys than less

Not to mention he is one of the highest “time on ground” players that ultimately allow burst players like LDU the opportunity to have an extra spell.
