I can't be the only one that has lost their voice today.

Disgraceful start but talk about digging deep in the face of adversity.
It was worth it.

For all the posters that stuck Through after going 0-10 in 2016 and enduring that 2016-21 period of not making finals. It was bloody worth it

I think Walker is the most overrated player in the history of sport. Every time he got the ball yesterday he either put a teammate under uneccessary pressure or directly turned it over. People love his run, but he averages 198 metres gained which is the same as Lobb and Darcy and I;ve never heard anyone mention their 'run-and-carry'. It's miniscule compared to Young(365MG) or Clark(345MG).

I think he has potential, but it baffles me that he gets a game in a final over Wilson. To be honest I'd play, Hughes, Tucker, Colyer, Crowden, Johnson, Erasmus, Henry, Blakely or Worner ahead of him. I would seriously rather have Banfield in the team.

Mark Duffield rated Walker 4.5/10 for yesterdays game which is inconceivably generous.
Because contrary to popular belief, a huge part of being good defender is....defending! He's the best on the team at defending those dangerous smalls. And he has the added bonus of being able to break lines WHEN NEEDED.

Weightman did not kick a single goal when walker was on him.

Agree. Everytime he gets the ball I'm stressing. Get rid of it already. Wilson probably provides as much dash from the back half and has superior disposal and decision making

Lol I'm a big Wilson fan but I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that he has the ability to defend cameron, pickett, weightman types well. All well and good having run off half back but it's useless if smalls are kicking 3 or 4 on you every game because you can't keep up with them defensively.

Watched the replay today.

  • Amiss was so good, played exactly like you would expect a tall forward to play, could have had 4 goals
  • Lobb battled hard, was double teamed a lot, those two goals great, but I still felt his game was a bit selfish and lacking.
  • Acres seemed to be in a lot contests but his disposal by foot is bad
  • Walker lots to like but his disposal by hand and foot is rushed and not great
  • Logue isn't a good forward, never ever looks capable of kicking goals
  • Walters an awful start in front of goals , turned it around for one of his best performances
  • Midfield and defense good for much of the game despite the poor start on the scoreboard
  • Tabs must come in if ready but you cant drop Amiss, Logue to the back line would be my choice
  • O'Driscoll something special, his trademark goal from a pocket and celebration so good, hope he gets up for next week
  • Freddy chase down tackle and his pace on the wings , love it. Switta and Schultz also giving it everything to apply pressure.
  • Umpiring was hmmm, they let a lot of stuff go , more of it for dogs I thought who got a bit of a ride in parts.

Yes, he defends well. But please provide evidence of this so called 'line breaking'. I've seen him do it twice in 20 games this year. And even in those instances he didn't use the ball particularly well.

Just sad how delusional and childish their mods/super mods are really. Scum from the bottom to the top. I hope they rot in obscurity for a decade.
Strangely I don't dislike the west coast eagles fan base. I don't really care about them.

I do agree some of their fans are arrogant and delusional.

I don't think they will go through 10 seasons in a row of not making finals.

Their squad is ageing and beaten down. I can't name one player aged 23 or under that is a difference maker like Serong or Brayshaw.

Eagles haven't made finals in 2021. They didn't make finals in 2022. I won't be surprised if they go 5 seasons in a row from 2021-25 not making finals

Not much been said about him but I think that was Logue's worst game since moving forward. Couldn't mark the ball to save his life.

Zero tackles
Only 8 pressure acts

Gained a little confidence after his goal but it was a stinker for sure.

Only way is up now.

Disagree with this.
Watching it at the ground he didn’t lose a contest, apart from the dodgy free kick his ability to close down space and halve almost every contest he hit was bloody good.
You don’t need stats to play a good game of footy, particularly when you’ve been deployed as a defensive forward which is a pretty thankless task.

He does it at least twice every game. But believe it or not, that's not his primary role. Notice how he still had a place in the team with Wilson AND Clark? It's because he plays a much more defensive role than those two who are much more offensive players. What he lacks for in perfect disposal he more than makes up for in blanketing his opponent. And that's why he's in the team. If Wilson comes in it's for someone like Chapman.

I usually don't rate Hamish McLachlan as a commentator but his call of that Freddy tackle > Sonny goal was great "Can you believe what is happening at Optus?" has been ringing in my ears all day
He has been the caller for 2 of our finals wins now.

He was also one of the commentators in the Geelong QF 2013.

So did optus stadium lose 2 thousand seats from the Grand Final last year to last night.

Considering they said it was sell out and the GF got 61k

How did last night not get to 59k at least.

They have done what we have. Burnt there list out by not tirnig it over enough and now the team has fallen off the edge of a cliff withouts senior players left to teach, provide culture or a physical presence on feild to support..their recent uninspired drafting will also hurt.
5 more years before they next make finals is my call..🙂.

I have literally watched the video 20 times today....Awesome, awesome stuff and a really good call of it.

Alas, Cerra decided he’d rather head to a team that chokes with finals looming, leaving Serong and Brayshaw to team up with old man Mundy and Will Brodie… and they have not missed Cerra one bit. Not even a smidgen. Bugger off, Adam… hope you’re enjoying your September off…

No Cerra = one of Amiss or Erasmus.
