Same rules in this thread as other years.

This thread is for news of players we are linked to, or snippets from our connected posters to drop regarding our targets.

It’s not for :
  • reviewing or posting about current HFC listed players
  • posting about who you like or who you think we should target
  • how trades might get done
The thread you are looking for to do that is here

On top of the Edmund comments I had someone reach out recently to say that Hawthorn were at the front of the queue for Bruhn, via someone whos heard it from his family.

Remains to be seen how that plays out.

Err, I think you'll find it's a race, not an orderly queue. Have you ever done this before?

Geez.

Yes, and?

Really weird after the 2 years we’ve just endured that people would begrudge people wanting to live close to those they love.
I agree. But people in Aus forget that. Oh it’s just another state and stop being a sook is a terrible attitude like some have posted

Oh now I get you - apologies!

Update.

The only way Bruhn won’t get to Hawthorn is if the Cats miss out on Hopper. Even if this happens we’re still in with a decent chance.

However the cats will push really hard for Bruhn if they miss Hopper.

Hopper to Richmond possibility has thrown a curve ball.

In his presser yesterday said he wants to spend more time playing midfield minutes on the outside of course and even as an experienced player still wants to improve and get better.

Might need to put the call out there...see if we get anything

Can someone gimme the lowdown on Meek?
Big, strong ruckman in the physical mould of Pruess. Not really agile at his current weight, but has excellent tapwork and body positioning. Surprisingly good user by hand and foot, but not someone who gets a ton of the footy around the ground. Not really a forward threat, but not hopeless as a deep option either.

Pick 69 in the 2017 draft, will be 25yo early next year. Originally from Ballarat way.

15 games in the 5 years at Freo, 6 of them this year.

Has struggled for games ahead of Darcy and Sandilands in the past, the arrival of Luke Jackson would make it even harder.

Is contracted for 2023, but Freo are letting him explore options

Ash Browne mentioned tonight on Hawks insiders that Sam has reached out to both Amon and Meek regarding the current culture of the club, reiterating that things are in a much better place.

Amon committed that his decision to join us has not changed.

Hopefully he’s reached out to Bowes too

As it should be as well. Sam seems so much more a calm influence over the club than what we had in the last few years. Gee, with all that's happening in the last 6 or so months , it takes a strong character to stand up and be available and upfront like Sam has. No hiding from "Issues" , So , if supporters like me and people on the outside can see this, I'm sure footballers looking to ply their trade at Hawthorn would feel quite safe coming to the hawks. This is why I'm against posters who are suggesting that they won't be the same or even follow the club from here on in!! I can understand the anger and the sensitivity but there are other people working and WILL continue to work extremely hard to get Hawthorn back up and about. Really happy about Amon committing. Hopefully more follow .
