What are you implying here?Because there is something more to this story.
GC is acting like it has a gun to its head.
The AFL doesn't seem to mind.
That's where you'll find your answer.
What are you implying here?
Be open; this is hardly a periodical of note ...
Yeah but Robbo lurks about, so...What are you implying here?

What’s Scott going to say to Francis exactly? He’s out the door. We don’t appear to be trying to convince him to stay.So after, 10 days, Scott hasn't spoken to Francis and we're trying to sort that out.
That's convincing

He doesn't work for a periodical of note either ...Yeah but Robbo lurks about, so...
Is Brad capable of having a fatherly chat with Aaron?“Please Aaron, stay! Otherwise I won’t be able to put Ameet Baines in my sig anymore!!!!!”
...or does he?He doesn't work for a periodical of note either ...
Danger is spot on, it was 'brilliant' by The Cats and they continue to win at everything, including mad monday...
The reasons why they’ve made the deal makes sense, it just comes down to the AFL allowing it to happen, which they shouldn’t have.I don't think it's anything as sinister as a conspiracy by the AFL regarding P7 and Bowes for a future 3rd... I reckon it's simply a matter of really poor list management, combined with the AFL doing nothing to address the growing issue of player power on the trade landscape.
If you are Gold Coast, and your TPP is surging past the cap because you can't do math good, and various contract clauses for players are kicking in, and you've identified Jack Bowes represents your best solution to remain under the cap, and he goes and nominates one club. What option to you as Gold Coast actually have?
Yeah they could've dragged it out etc, but ultimately all power lies with one party, Jack has to agree to the club he is being traded, it's of no issue to him if he stays, the club will either face all the consequences of being over the cap, he will still get his $850k.
So this leaves the Suns with 3 options:
1. Go over the cap, become the laughing stock, get fined into next century by a mad AFL.
2. Look to fire sale 2-3 players quickly that they may want to keep over Bowes ala Collingwood a cpl years ago.
3. Realise that they have a losing hand, and that giving up a draft pick is the best option compared to 1-2.
Once they tagged pick 7 to it, they didn't need to give Bowes all the power of picking a club as well. Why couldn't they say, pick 3 clubs, and we'll negotiate the best deal and send you there.I don't think it's anything as sinister as a conspiracy by the AFL regarding P7 and Bowes for a future 3rd... Or any of the others that agree with meTell that to boncer34![]()
There is nothing that indicates that any aspect of GC's operation is remotely competent.
I think the AFL has audited player payments and found a breach. I suspect it even looks like an honest mistake. I doubt it's of a value that warrants the furore that might have to follow.
Reductions in list sizes, cap decreases, it gets you part of the way there. But why their academy shining light and why pick 7.
I think the same thing happened at Collingwood.
I see the dees enquire about schache.. now there's a question for us, which failed top ten pick fwd would you rather
Weideman
Schache
Both seem to lack a certain intensity that was missed through their draft year interviews and analysis it seems
Tend to agree - there is simply no plausible reason for pick 7 to be involved. There is nothing that indicates that any aspect of GC's operation is remotely competent.

They will put provisions in after this. You watch, we will have a trade like Bowes pop up for next year, most likely from GC and the AFL will block it.
Farm clubs. Pick the best talent, overpay them to stay and then offload them to a team who doesn't even have to take on the same salary on a salary dump .Probably next year or the year after they will be able to trade salary space for picks without a player being moved on too... it's small steps in that direction at the moment. While players have to consent and choose only to consent when they go to top sides, it seems top sides are most likely to benefit, but if they can trade cap space separately then bottom teams will be better able to trade that out and acquire the picks they need for a rebuild.

The Dons will in effect trade out Aaron Francis for a future third-rounder and secure Weideman for the same pick in what would be an upgrade of their attacking stocks.
But having conceded too many goals to key position forwards the under-sized Bombers know they must secure another tall defender.
Essendon football boss Josh Mahoneytold the Herald Sun the Dons were in the market whether it came in the trade period, through delisted free agency or even the national draft.PLAYERCARDSTARTJosh Mahoney

It has been a challenge securing players with Essendon conceding they were behind the eight ball given Brad Scott’s recent acquisition.
But the Bombers are balancing the need to take the No.4 pick to the national draft while also bringing in a key defender.

“We look at the draft and trade period as a collective. We have still got the ability after the trade period to swap draft picks and the drafts are coming up.
“We think we have a young talented list and we don’t want to be bottom forever so we want to maximise the opportunities when we have access to high-end talent.
“With pick four in the draft we think it’s a very valuable pick.”
Mahoney said the Demons had pitched to former No.9 draft pick Weideman on Monday about a role at the Bombers.
“We only just met Sam. He met with Brad Scott (on Monday) and we had some discussions over the weekend. We will see how it plays out over the next few days. We think our ability to bring another key tall in certainly helps with the forward structure. Sam played that role at Melbourne at certain stages and he was limited in his options with very good players ahead of him. We will keep having discussions with Melbourne.”
The Bombers are hopeful Setterfield will join the long list of players who finally thrive when given the opportunity to play as a regular inside midfielder with centre square opportunities.
“History is littered with stories of players of a similar age to Will who have gone to other clubs and had a successful career. We will back in our program and the development of our players and are confident we will see the best of Will at AFL level.
“He suits the position we have been looking to fill as well as the age bracket. Given the opportunities we can present we think he’s a really good fit.”
