Player Watch Nick Daicos

Part of me wishes we'd stop comparing Nick to a player whose potential was never realised and whose career was cut cruelly short.
I'm only comparing to the 15 minutes of highlights available.
Both evasive and an eye for goal.
Both thinking a few steps ahead of other players.

Don't get me wrong, my portly prophet, another part of me loves that we're comparing Nick to a player whose potential was never realised and whose career was cut cruelly short.

But the part of me which deals in auguries and superstitions, the part of me which reads the entrails of goats for portents, is somewhat troubled.

It's may be just me but I see many similarities between John and Nick.
I also think Nick is an emerging superstar.
Greening played mainly on the wing.

Yeah between back and forward flanks - covered a lot of ground for a big man . . .

Nick will probably be as good but a different type of player.

We have a modern day John Greening on our hands.
I imagine his assists plus goals will be something to behold.
No piss farting around like GAJ with cheap disposal.

I also imagine Edward Allan carving teams up alongside him.
I've been waiting for Nick since he was 12.
Josh is almost as talented but not in the same stratosphere.

I like the nickname "big Nick"
Just to shove it up Carlton supporters.
"Nicky babe"
Anything but Naicos.
I usually refer him as Nicky D. The Naicos name is almost exclusively used in conjunction with Jaicos to be explicit on who I am referring to (using Nick and Josh is explicit, but infinitely more boring).

I like Nicky D. Reminds me of Dicky Knee. I normally refer to him as this this as well.

No we don't....but for those of us who saw him we have a very close version of his dad when he first burst onto the scene. The silky moves, the mind that's 6 steps ahead of everyone else, even the confidence and the ability to seize the moments...that's pure Daicos.

At this age Johnny Greening was taking mark of the week (every week) and kicking bags of goals as a midfielder.

Steady on FJ...
Very different players, but FJ may have been referring to Nick's potential impact on games.
Greening was a freak cut down by something that should have seen the perpetrator end up in jail.
Players started playing VFL younger in those days, so it's hard to compare - Tim Watson was 15 when he played his first VFL game.
Nick will be his own player - a player of the very highest quality.

Correct brother. Impact on games.
Similar to Greening at ground level.
Eye for the goals and freaky evasiveness.
I see Nick potentially being a GOAT.
UP there with the Abletts and Carey, many more.
All different players although Ablett snr and junior are often compared eventhough completely different players.
Nick in 3 or 4 years will be the player to watch. Also Captain material.
Just happy he is ours.

I don't judge GOAT'S on premiership wins. Some of them play in shitty teams.

It has been a hobby horse of mine - deliberate off the ball physical attack IS in fact assault and battery.

The fact that the VFL/AFL have protected football thugs from the legal consequences is a complete and utter disgrace.

‘Whisper’ is good. It implies quiet but deadly. Not heard until it’s too late.

I’m still recovering from David King’s excitement about Nick. It troubles me - he’s being too nice about a Collingwood player.🙁

King also was one of the few in the media who came to Ginnivan's defence last year.

Bobby Skilton never won a flag, but won 3 Brownlows.

Don’t leave Matrix out as GOAT brother FJ
