Spoilers: they don’t.

Even the world leading experts on concussion say we still need tonnes more research to fully understand head knocks impact on the brain.

A lot of the symptoms can be mild and not flare up until later in life. Danny Frawley is one of the many tragic examples.
Frawley had low stage CTE. It may have been a contributor to his depression. His is not a conclusive example.

Shane Tuck on the other hand, had severe CTE.

I reckon Murphy's field kicking is really good. He has the occasional poor dump kick out but that's always under extreme pressure.
THe problem is that they're more than occasional and he doesn't get enough distance to clear the area.

Yep needs them to have more depth and probably more boundary side. I only expect so much under the kind of pressure he's under when he takes those kicks, but the above should be areas to develop. I trust him ball in hand if he is upright with the footy.

yeh I think a lot of it is in his head and he might improve with more confidence/games. In the end, he might end up "average"...

Pretty sure I've said this before but his improvement this season as a KPD (which he is not ideally built for) and doing a great job with is a prime reason why our defence has been so strong. His durability has added to that too. Defences need to be settled above all else. Defences are a team within a team. Murph, Moore, Howe, Maynard, IQ & Noble have been together basically all year and have improved as a collective.

Murphy has been outstanding.
Plays well above his size and is as courageous as Clint Eastwood would like to be.

Well you were wrong then, because Dean and Madgen were ahead of him :p
In the GWS preseason game Dean was already injured, both Madge and Murphy played and it felt like a shoot out between the two for one spot in the team. We all thought it would be a temporary spot with Roughy to return. Murphy was looking the better of the two and then butchered his ankle, giving Madge the spot.

In the vernacular of junior footy everywhere: Most Improved Award 2022 goes to.......Nathan Murphy

Good season by Murph.
Is he quick and agile enough to play on small forwards?

Murphy might have a different role next season.

Nick Daicos to midfield
Murphy to man up on a small forward
Howe to 3rd tall
Frampton/Dean to key position.

Nick Daicos is a good interceptor, but I’m sure whatever defensive output he provides could be more than matched by Murphy, regardless of the size of opponent.

Nah, I think he is what he is, and that is a very good dour defender, one of the most courageous players I’ve seen.
