Even Winder looks like he has had a huge pre season. He could also be a surprise packet this year.

Come to think of it I don't think I've ever seen us go into a season with so many players ready to go. Bodes well for the season. About time all our fringe players pushed for selection.

Winder's always been pretty well developed physically, though hopefully his endurance is up a notch.

Am just so uncertain about him positionally. He's definitely more of a mid footy wise at WAFL level but physically is more of a small forward. As you say fringe competition is stronger - to me that means Winder needs a niche he sticks with all season. He won't be starting AFL so will need to earn a spot through his WAFL form and I'd love for us to be bringing players up with similar roles from 2nds-1sts now that hopefully we don't have to fit square pegs into round holes just to field a side.

Does he play mid at WAFL level knowing that he's probably better at that grade but that there's a fair few ahead of him there, backing his performances to force a midfield game in the side? Or does he back natural development to improve his small forward game enough that he earns a spot there, with considerably less competition in that area?

Ultimately if he improves out of sight and stays in the squad for years I think he'd end up an outside mid/fwd rotation but I feel like you have to establish yourself as one thing before you start dipping into being a multiple role DeGoey/Bolton type. It's mid in WAFL, mid in AFL, or small forward WAFL, small forward AFL for 2023 IMO in a make or break year for him, really unsure what'll be best.

You'd think Jamieson might make way, Hewitt into the pocket.
It's either Jamo or Williams. We won't go NN alone and the 2 nd ruck needs to spend plenty of time on the ground so we aren't wasting a bench spot on a resting ruck for 90% of the game. I think Waterman is the most questionable position. He would need to tackle his arse off for that forward line to function. I think it's too slow with win in there with Cripps, 2kpf and a resting ruck but we will see.

Rotham was drafted as a fast attacking half back.

But Simo's game plan was the opposite. Take our time, possess the ball and pick our way through the midfield and then kick inside 50. Basically play to our strengths being tall marking forwards. But teams worked that out and flooded our forward line and double teaming our gun forwards.

Fast forward to 2023. Old style gone, new plan attack from defense with haste and use speed.

The new plan exactly fits Rotham's natural u18 style and form.
That works if Rotham thinks like he did when drafted. He needs to Shen the gun slinging KPD attitude he develop (though he never took to the physicality of how he could inflict pain with his physique)

I was happy when we drafted him but his development has been woeful

Forward line too tall.

Lacks speed and defensive pressure types. Opposition would be taking the ball out of defense far too easily.
Take JJ out of defense and put him as a small forward and that squad looks more balanced. But can't see JJ making the cut in round 1 regardless. Think it'll be Petch or Long.

Im backing JJ as close to a lock for a bench spot ahead of Hewett, Long or Petch. He has added flexibility to his game and has the speed and tackling we are focusing on.

Plus a few years building an AFL body and endurance.

From purely a romantic notion we should debut Long in Melbourne, home state.

And Hewett and Ginbey at Optus.

Then the boys get a heap of family and friends attending.

Jack has got a more longer vertical head but Harry has a more larger horizontal head.

I think it be pretty close but Harry for mine is closer to being more of a all rounder larger size head.
Harry is also younger and everyone knows a KPP’s head takes a fair while to develop. I think by 2025 it may have its own gravitational pull

How about giving the Synergy word the flick, it really does suck balls, and offers very little in explaining a situation.
How many games has Nic Nat got left in his career, 10,20,30,40? who knows, but he is not the answer nor is that overused, not funny word, Synergy.

That’s a strange thing to be real touchy about. Anyone else thinking this bloke might just not like being reminded he’s a little overdue on his power bills?

Synergy.

It’s a word that’s apt to induce an eye-roll these days.

For the past few decades, synergy has been a banal business buzzword — a cliché term used to describe some splashy new initiative that really doesn’t amount to anything more than some corporate merging or bureaucratic reshuffling. Sometimes it’s even code for “We’re about to lay people off, but we’ll be able to get more done because . . . synergy!”

PremiershipNo4 I agree it’s a bit trite, but I mean whatever. I do admire your obvious passion for this word.

Although it’s a pain point for you, I might pivot away from drilling down further into the ‘why’ and press pause on any more deep dives for now. I think if we just move the needle slightly we might be able to circumvent the need to unpack this further.

Let’s circle back later and maybe take stock to pick off some of the more low hanging fruit instead, so we can hopefully remain in alignment. I’m happy to pick this up with you again or even take it offline as I do value you as a thought leader. I hope the word synergy doesn’t remain a cause for concern & impact negatively on your health & well-being. Synergy 🤝

I'll have my people reach out to your people, so we can network about the intersectional issues.

I could put other words forward that I associate with the use of the word Synergy, but in the ever growing politically correct world we live in, it would be removed very quickly.
Synergy = you say it best when you say nothing at all

Im getting ready for work at the moment and I’m sure the other couple hundred of employees will be Synergised as one and working towards a common goal, we’ve all been working together long enough………..in reality that is complete bullshit, Tony is a useless pisstank, Belinda has a mental breakdown every five minutes, Rob you wouldn’t trust as far as you could throw him, Kym nice bloke and tries hard but the boys as sharp as a bowling ball.
Synergy is one of bullshit words thrown around when they don’t have answers.
Synergise this🖕

Synergy between teammates is probably a tad more important in an elite sporting team environment than it is for the average bunch of schmoes working for a paycheque, but whatever.
Hence why in leagues such as the BBL teams like Sydeny Sixers and Perth scorchers are so successful
